my DJ Canada Value Package is 5 years old now, bought it brand new in 2015. It's a very strongly built car in terms of the windshield glass, insulation and paint. I love this car! Seems to be very durable long term. Watching this video back in the day helped me in my buying decision. It's a great highway cruiser for road trips as well.

+stupical just bought the Ford Ranger 2016 model. Decided dual cab ute was way to go for my family, with music gear to cart, dogs to throw in the back and kids to cart around. The ranger is the closest vehicle in the dual cab range with the internal features like the Journey. Haven't picked it up yet though. End of this week apparently.

in my experience so far there not that bad when it comes to reliability if you get a later model one(i heard early models where a nightmare). but i have had little things brake though. bluetooth modular needed to be replaced, one of the HVAC mixer flaps needed replacing, a sway bar/bushing, oh and a thermostat sensor. that’s 3 years of owning one. but if you buy a toyota in 3 years nothing might not brake and the resale is good. my 2014 journey rt awd is not great on gas and makes a weird whining sound when i first start it that i’m told is normal, but it’s a great family hauler that’s never left us stranded or stuck. the extra space/storage is awesome and the back doors opening a full 90degrees is amazing for getting kids in and out of car seats,the look is a bit dated but i have the fully loaded blackout rally model and i honestly like the look of it.

Travis Hurt don’t buy new, you can get a top of the line Journey for half the price and they do sell extended warranty. I bought a used rt with every option for 15k that had a 40k sticker price when it was new.

The Dodge Journey looks like a Van to me. Why not compare the highlander to the journey. For some odd reason I can’t find any video on that. Maybe because of price ?

you'll pay more for the quality and reliabily of the rav4 DUH lol, of course but it's well worth it, the extra money you'll pay for the rav4 you'll get back when u sell it, and the money you'll save on the dodge you'll end up spending it on repairs lol

Yes, you are right. However, if you are planning to lease a SUV where you don't own it, you drive a brand new vehicle for 3 years, it really doesn't matter. I would choose American made vehicle over foreign made.

Rationally speaking, it's actually not worth it. Journey's 4% chance of major engine or transmission repairs in first 10 years is more than 10 times as high as Rav4's 0.3%. But it's a $20k car instead of $25k for Rav4, not to mention the Journey is far larger, at the size of Highlander that cost $30k. Yes, the Toyota is 10 times more reliable, but what makes you think you'll be the one unlucky soul out of every 25 people that gets to spend your $5-10k in upfront savings on repairs in the first 10 years? If you are, that money more than covers a new engine or transmission. What if you're the unlucky soul that brought a Toyota for $5-10k more and got stuck with repairs anyway? What then?
