Just my opinion on the intro. I'm an old JDM fanboy meaning I think it's just the era you grew up in. I like the early 2000's 90's 80's 70's and even cars in the 60's. But all those OG car designers have passed on and new people have moved in. The Toyota Supra with a BMW engine ( Piss off ) that's a insult to the name Supra. So the Mrk 5 Supra is not a true JDM. The GTR R35 with a V6 ( Piss off ) again. If the purpose was to make a quick car on the drag strip then congrats you did it, other than that the R35 not a JDM. Subaru doesn't even compete in the WRC anymore so what exactly is it you're buying ? The real OG Subaru are the 90's to 2000. Honda Civic is an abomination with Subaru tail lights you NEVER see them on the street period and the new Honda Integra is only made for the American market which has to be renamed to Acura, oh and it only comes in four door. Mitsubishi gave up on the WRC as well and I'm talking about the Evolutions 1-9 not the Eclipse ( you guys can keep that trash ) The Evo 10 with the new improved 4b11T can go suck it. Toyota have one of the worlds best 3 cylinder, all they have to do is add three more cylinders to make an INLINE ( Not V6 ) and there's you're new inline 6 for a 3JZ. Not to mention, how often to people actually see a GR Yaris on the road. None. The GR Yaris should have been the GT Starlet ( GR Starlet ) And Nissan to being back the GTiR baby Godzilla Nissan Pulsar. And what's up with the new FAKE Skylines people are driving. the 250 GT 350 GT. It's a marketing gimmick. Now every poor C**t can say I own a Skyline. Plus you can't work on these new cars like you can with the OG cars.

Same as the last of the GT4s, hard to move, very expensive. 2jz and 3sgte were solid as a rock as far as engineering, just so limited in stock form as people eventually figured out. Tuned to the rigours of circuit racing, the 3S-GT was lighter, more efficient, and still produced a whopping 493 horsepower and over 600 Nm of torque - more than enough to match the Skylines for power and performance." You learn something new everyday.

Group N Supras raced with the 2JZ, same goes with IMSA's production sports car category in the 90s. JGTC allowed different engines to be used, so most GT500 Supras ran either the 503e or (later on) the 3UZ V8. The 2JZ was intended for Group A racing, so if Group A didn't die we would have seen Mk.4 Supras with 2JZs racing against R32 GT-Rs.

11:30 agreed, even without forged internals some new non performance alloy/plastic engines are surprisingly strong. I've seen an Aussie make 3x the stock rwhp on a stock unopened Suzuki Jimny engine by adding a turbo, currently making 210 rwhp which doesn't sound like alot but in a vehicle that weighs only 1070kg power to weight ratio isn't too bad. I know I'll get laughed at here but I'm keen to boost my 2020 Suzuki Jimny too next year once warranty runs out. Plenty have already tried turbo and supercharging these new generation Jimnys globally with success, even local big names like Harrop are developing a supercharger kit for the Jimny, Bullet already have one out and a couple other smaller names have made turbo kits locally too. Other bigger names overseas have made some too like Greddy and HKS. I'm following 2 Aussies that added a turbo and are testing the limits of the stock internals before they kill it and build another engine with forged rods and pistons, so far so good at 210 rwhp, but he wants to try cracking 300 which will be insane if he reaches it. There is one over in Japan pushing 250 rwhp a couple years ago but they already put forged internals in but couldn't make anymore power on the Greddy smaller sized turbo they had fitted. The other Aussie over Perth is running stock unopened motor with a turbo and aftermarket ECU, unsure of his power levels currently, but he has taken it down the 1/4 mile and managed a 13.87 sec which is quite funny as thats a similar time to a dead stock Jimny 0-100km/h and now they're achieving basically the same time but down the 1/4 drag strip 😂💪

@@anthonywhelan8373 yeah exactly 👌 I've also got basically the same ute as yours a 1994 VR that I L67 swapped around 10yrs ago which would weigh more or less the same as your set up maybe slightly less. Isn't making as much power but owed me hardly anything only a few hundred bucks for the engine back when they were cheap as chips and rebuilt the top end with fresh gaskets. 10psi pully, extractors, 3" exhaust, mini spooled diff and 4.11 gears were the main performance mods and it was crazy quick off the line left all LS Commodores for dead in a 1/8 mile drag for most of the race, but by the end of the drag they reeled me in and just passed me before the finish line. 4.11 gears were probably too short for drag racing especially paired with a T5 5sp manual, but I built it more for a multi purpose car with coil overs etc for drifting and hill climb too but just never got around to entering it, still awesome fun on the street how responsive and fast it accelerates to 50 or 80. I've also got a 2005 VZ LX8 Adventra with an LS1 pushing closer to 300kw with extractors, full exhaust, trans tuned and engine retuned on 95 which can put it all to the ground with its AWD and a rear Trutrac LSD, but it just feels slower accelerating with its 4sp auto and pushing 1985kg bodyweight. Still sounds and feels fast enough to overtake though, it's a nice cruiser and tows 2.1T easy with its rear air level ride system etc plus has a larger trans sump and cooler to make sure the auto doesn't cook. I've also got a 1997 Suzuki Vitara SV420 2 door swb manual with a 2L 4cyl, basically stock performance wise apart from an exhaust. I was tempted to turbo, or engine swap with the 2.7L V6 out of the 3rd gen Grand Vitara as it just bolts in haha but my money is probably better spent on my new Jimny with a turbo/supercharger and maybe eventually forged internals as its a new vehicle I'd get more use out of, plus more people seem to like it since it looks retro and cool plus it's slightly lighter for power to weight ratios.

Toyota with a new version of a 3S-GT engine? Hell yes this will be a good thing, Toyota realised back in the 90's the 2JZ was too heavy for circuit racing, nothing has changed from this thesus. The A90 with the S85 engine is completely different as the BMW I6 is crazy light compared to the 2JZ. To all these idiots claiming new cars are terrible, the new A90 Supra is BS quick with only 10-15k worth of mods. Put it this way, my old R34 GTR held records at Phillip Island, SMP and QLD Raceway for quite a few years as the fastest GTR and fastest outright street car in QLD too. The new Supra came out and anyone who knows Mark T's Supra will know that he bear my time by a second per lap with 10k spent on it. My old 34 GTR had consumed nearly 140k on mods. The Lotus Exige 410 Sport, I drive them for work along with the new Lotus Emira, absolutely awesome cars with suspension that is incredible for road racing events. Hyundai I30N sedan, brilliant value for money and cheap as too. BMW M5 F90, incredible machine on the road and track. I still love MX5's if you want a good handling car that you can throw money at without being too expensive. C6 and C7 Corvette, day no more, sadly not many here. This whole BS with inline 6 cylinders and sound is ridiculous, the RB, 2J, Barra engines are extremely heavy and not good for circuit racing if you want to be quick, we moved on years ago from this sort of engine being adequate for racing.

Any technology advancement is always a good step in the right direction ... it would be good if they used the latest tech in a bigger motor like a straight 6, 3.0liter but we all know they wont for the above mentioned reasons (listed in the video).... toyota/lexus have made some stout motors since the 2jz like the 2ur v8 found in the isf lexus , obviously in the performance scene they dont have the head room to be turned up 10 times its origional power like the cast iron jz motors because they are already highly strung.. i personally will always love the 90s cars and tech and jzs in general but you cant knock newer tech for what it is stock vs stock

Maybe the 600hp version is electrified on the flywheel but I believe its not and just unlocked or close version with high boost
