Thanks for the vid! I went with the knockoff actuator from eBay for around $80.00. Fits like a glove and works fine so far. I did have to disconnect the ground wire from the battery for a minute or two after install and then bam it worked!

Thanks for the video. I replaced actuator on my Sequoia but when i closed the door it wouldn’t open. My question is how to make actuator work properly?

Just found your video. My back gate is stuck shut. I am at the exact spot as your video depicts. Got cover off actuator levers. The levers move when pressing remote button but gate wont unlatch so I can open. Could you please please take time to say how you got your gate open after this point? You must have busted up white actuator housing ( removed a motor then as you say) and somehow got latching mechanism to open up?? I Would really appreciate your response. I am so wanting to avoid a trip to Toyota for their expensive repairs on a less than $100 part. Thanks in advance

My rear gate wot stay shut. the mechanicms isnt latching, When i try to manualy move it its rigid as hell to move. The rear button sounds like its working normal. my issue is the last part that keeps it closed. Does that sound like i need to replace the actuator?

I have the motor out. Still can’t get the mechanical part out. Any suggestions. Pulled on two levers .

Thanks - mine is stuck too. I managed to get all the panels off, and even disassembled the motor just like you did. But i still cant figure out how to get it open. Once you had the plastic off etc - how did you actually make it open?

From the inside of the car, lift the little latch by the motor and push out on the hatch at the same time.

I am having the same problem. Panels removed, top and sides removed.Also disassembled the motor. Lifting the latch and pushing on the door does not open the lift gate. Any other recommendations of how to open it?

I bought new lock for my Sequoia because I thought that the it is the reason for lifting gate problem , which is not working automatically. Unfortunately, i lost my money without benefit from buying this new lock.
