Despite this rather dreary review, I'm here to say the 2nd gen Sequoia's are absolute BEASTS. Dependable, powerful, comfortable vehicles that ask for very little from their owners. 225,xxx+ miles on our '08 Platinum. My biggest complaint about owning this model is, if we were to ever step out of this vehicle to something else, it would simply be substandard to the Sequoia. Toyota nailed it with these. OVER built is an UNDER statement.
@kftc19802 жыл бұрын
Zero problems in two years with our ‘08, over 200k. As reliable as the first Gen it replaced, but much nicer. Everything that was wrong with the first Gen is fixed here. The only thing I don’t like is the reduced vertical cargo area dimension due to the fold flat rear seats and IRS. It is bigger than the first gen, but drives more like a car or minivan. It is the perfect vehicle if you have more than 2 kids, and a trailer to pull to the campsite. Obviously a Lexus suv wouldn’t be a step down, but there is more bang for your buck here, and more space.

I guess they had to try to find a handful of Sequoias, out of 14 years worth production, to make this exaggerated video. The main reason I bought a new 2016 Limited Sequoia, that has 75,000 trouble free miles so far, is because the 2003 Highlander V6 4WD I bought new, has 400,000 hard miles, and still runs perfect, and everything still works. I do all the maintenance and whatever minor repairs, it needs. I've had every make of vehicles over the years, and nothing compares to Toyota for reliability and longevity. That's why I always say... "I Wonder How Many Chevy's, Dodges and Fords, It Would Take"... "To Equal One Toyota" ? "The World May Never Know !"

Many of these were " 1 owner reported", so not affecting the masses. I've had a 2013 Tundra and now have a 2022 Sequoia and the only issue I've seen mentioned in this video is the door lock motors going out. Both vehicles have been awesome.

I am driving my second sequoia. The first one went over 250,000 miles, and my mother got into an accident. It didn't look bad at all, but the insurance company just wrote off. It destroyed the other car, but nothing to my mother. So I got a used cheap Sienna. Boy, did it last. I practically drove it off the cliff, and the thing just kept going. I finally said enough and donated it. Then I got myself the second sequoia which I am driving. The gas mileage really sucks, and I love it. It is my way of sticking to the Californians and liberals. I even drive without one spark plug, so I can drive in front of any Tesla and spew the gas. I am so sick of EVs. I am going the opposite of what everyone is doing. Buying a gas guzzler. Hell, my Porsche gets a better gas mileage than my Sequoia. I just absolutely love this car.

My 2nd gen Sequioa is the BEST suv I have owned. After owning a loaded Yukon and Suburban, my wife now drives a Sequioa Platinum, trouble free ever since. I have NEVER experienced ANY of the problems in this video, not one. I can agree that the dashlights are dim, but that's a preference. Is this video made by a GM employee. Sequioa, other than the Toyota Landcruiser, and Lexus LX, is the most bulletproof large SUV made.

I own a 2011 Limited, purchased at 151k, now 172k, and haven't yet experienced any of these issues thus far. I've kept up with all normal maintenance, upgraded to bigger brakes discs and better pads, trans fluid change at purchase, eventually replaced front and rear suspension. I recently had one of the oil gaskets leaking so I replaced both. This truck is a BEAST!! Still a head turner at dealerships despite its age. Have driven from San Diego to Dallas twice, once to Reno through the Sierra Nevadas. Great on family trips. No major issues. Smooth riding, and quiet. I used to own a 2003 Expedition, good truck but the Sequoia is on a different level. I use premium gas for optimum performance. I wish Toyota had stayed with the bigger engine.
@djohn6717 ай бұрын
Hello...The mechanic I have suggested I purchase bigger and new discs because of the previous rotors were warped, and giving me issues on the road, instead of resurfacing them. They ordered the parts for me. This was about a year and a half ago, and since then, braking has been smooth. As for the valves and gaskets, I had to deal with those oil leakage, major, in November 2023, and again in March 2024, because it was still leaking. In November I purchased a valve cover gasket set and a lower oil pan gasket. In March it was discovered that I still had some leakage though not major like before in November. It was covered under warranty the second time, the valve cover gasket was replaced again, and I haven't experienced any further leaks as of yet, but yes if you get this truck prepare to spend about 600 to 800 bucks, and for upgraded discs front and rear about 1000 to 1200. Hope I answered your question, have a blessed day.

I changed the diffs, trans, and transfer case fluids to 100% synthetic, and it feels like i removed 2000 lbs of weight. Much better performance, especially in , cold weather. Toyota may now have similar fluids, so will look into that. Trans shifts a little harder, faster, and 4x4 shift isn't sticky from non-use.

Next to a Land Cruiser, Sequoia's are the most reliable vehicles available. I have a 2020 and have only had a leaking rear window strut/piston replaced under warranty. I use mine for hauling my dogs and camping in very remote areas of Montana and Idaho. I have complete confidence in my Sequoia and it has never let me down. I plan to keep it for the next ten years or more. This is a very disingenuous video to say the least.

I absolutely CHERISH my 2019 Platinum! The sole ongoing issue has been an excruciatingly expensive ongoing wiring/chip issue. Dash fills with entire cluster of safety warning lights coming on and staying lit until I b.o.a.t. (break out another *few* thousand) at another Toyota dealership and the cruise control goes on strike. Three different dealerships totalling $3600.00 in five years on that issue alone. My air ride suspension just went out. Its never been driven hard, no rough terrain no other drivers than my 75yr husband and myself. Our 2001 never gave us any issues other than simply wear and tear and had 615,420 miles on the odometer before it quit working and I gave it to my great nephew who drove it another two plus years. Why would anyone choose any other SUV is beyond me, I couldn't afford to buy disposable myself. My poor husband however, bless his heart, unashamedly purchases Ford 350 Diesel trucks. He has assured me if and when Toyota would sell heavy duty diesel trucks in the United States he would greatly consider being one of the first to bring one home. Have you or anyone you know ever had such wiring issues with the safety cluster as I have? (Pre collision, lane, etc?)

😅😅😅This video how to of been made by GM, or Ford. We owned a 2008 sequoia limited did not have any of these problems. We had it with about 251,000 miles on it until a person made a left-hand turn and stopped right in front of us were my wife hit them at 50mph. If it wasn’t for this vehicle, I believe she would have been dead. Every single airbag went off. There was airbags in places where I didn’t even think there was the police had to take her out of the car, and I believe that if I just got the hood open and replace the radiator support and fix the electrical problems, you would still keep going. But all these issues in this video I’m definitely never experienced them. The unfortunate part is the sequoias are hard to come by and I was comparing the Sequoia to an Escalade, which I don’t want. As a used car dealer owner looked sequoia’s within the 500 mile radius only 15 popped up that I was looking for only one had 140,000 miles on it. Everything was 200,000 up for Escalade’s in the same radius same trim give or take 600 came up the one Sequoia that I was looking at 140,000 miles was the platinum for $22,000 auction price the one Escalade 2015 with 115,000 miles with more bells and whistles for $22,000. Don’t get me wrong. The Escalade is a beautiful looking vehicle, but I would rather have my Sequoia.

This video almost made me to give up on buyin one of these, but I watched the comments and watched the video 1 more time.... 1 - to get total loss of teering power you must have all fluid gone.... there is absolutely no way to NOT see it and take care of it. And now that the SUVs were recalled and fixed this problem is gone. If you see leak you can check it and fix it 2 - how can you tell its a big and wide spread problem by telling ,,severa" wtf :D Also this is fixable :) And stullf like flame in cabin has not heppened.... (and the way its said here ,,some people" ... no words) 3 - this happens if you DON'T take care for your engine :) This is why probably Toyota is slow to acknoledge is 4 - just watch your tires. But for the cracking stuf with that separating wheel from the car is really scary... since they were recalled and fixed we don't have to worry. However you can check the lug nuts and you always have to :) 5 - very few ppl had problem with electric locks (how came say 1 owner reporte it and some ppl with 2012 models) 6 - both easily checkable and fixable 7 - scary, didn't saw it in other videos (probably because cars were recalled and fixed). So if this happens to someone just know that you have to swapt some pards that could engage the accelerator pedal due to friction (should not happen because cars we recalld and problem fixed) 8 - only on 2018 models and its recalled and fixed 9 - only on 2016 models and easy to fix with stronger light bulbs (or LED) :) 10 - you told for airbags problems but never told if its common or not. Every car had some stuff like this and honestly its not a big deal if airbag is giving an error and you know it won't open. Better to know that instead of getting it launched from nothing :D Not a good thing at all but from your info it might be not a common problem (or not a problem with sequoias at all). I also searched for such stuff but didn't found. Its only here in this video :) 11 - couldn't find any info or video for problems with wiring of Sequoia and ,,one" owner doesn't make this common problem. And can't really believe that you tell me that rodents will chew up a car wiring :D lol 12 - how come talking for second gen and talk for many sequoias made before 2008 and at the same time tell that few of the 2008 made cars had that problem but it was fixed in all sequoias..... 13 - watch out for real with 2014-16 models but its not very hard to fix it. All you need is to adjust the camber, the caster and the tow on all 4 corners and you need alignment cam tab gusset - DONE (it happens if you go offroading) 14 - a single case out of a who knows how much existing vehicles :D :D also there is no additional info and this might happen due to bad maintenance :) 15 - it happened only on 3300 vehicles made during 2005 and 2011 (not all from second gen). They were recalled. And it happens becuase the ompression of the seat cushions can eventually damage the seat heater wiring. It CAN make it doesn't mean it WILL make it. And even if you see error for this on your dash board or something is malfunctioning with the seat, just disconnect the heater and look for help, nothing so scary :) 16 - it happened only beween 2009 and 2011 models, they were recalled and fixed, doesn't exist anymore. However you can always check it with not struggle 17 - this problem got it as you say ,,one owner" and a ,,few other owners" and its probably not from the relay if its still persisted after changing it lol :D so summary - none of these should distrub me or anyone who wants to buy sequoia. However its good just to look at them so we know that we can check these spots and see if someone isn't telling us about the problems that the car we want to buy have :)
