At 21:22 he says that removing the bolt that holds the window glass guide at the bottom was mildly helpful - I think it is more than helpful. It is impossible to remove the assembly without detaching the window glass guide at its lower attachment point. I wrestled with the assembly for at least 30 minutes and couldn't get it out until I removed that bolt. Moving the guide outward creates the room needed to remove the assembly. Otherwise, great video!

Thanks man this helped me a ton. Only thing I would add to it is to remove the lower bolt that holds the window track that's at the bottom of the door. I could not get the assembly out without doing that. I don't know how you managed to get it around and out without doing that, lol.

Will glad this helped you. Now that you mention it, I think I did have loosen the window track some to get the assembly out. This took me a while to do, and I just didn’t have the time or ability to film every bit. Glad you were able to figure it out.

Remove the two bolts that hold the window track . The track will slide out if the way for easy access. Also use a flexible socket extension and go through the hole by the lock to access the hard to reach bolt holding the handle.( you only needs to take out the top bolt first to loose the handle, then you can take out the second bolt, once the handle is free.)

One thing I would add is you dont have to take the door lock or handle off. You can pop off the two clips that hold the rods in place to the lock until.

Just did this on my 2006 Tundra. Thanks for posting! I was able to remove the unit without taking off the door handle. The plastic rod locks can be removed by hand. I was able to get the bigger rod loose from it's mount using long hemostats through the grommet port.

What is the screw size to connect the door lock actuator back to the latch assembly? I seem to have lost the screws

I have a question. The actuator on the passanger side is locked out. In order to replace it, do you think it will be a good idea to change the whole kit up to the buttons on top where you lock and unlock the door

At 8:00 in why did you skip taking loose the door handle and how did you do it without removing the black plug that gives access to one of the screws?
@shadetreediy38905 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but I did have to take the the door handle off to remove the lock actuator assembly. It just wasn't possible to get a camera up in the door to show you how while I did it. You can kind of see later in the video at the 22:17 mark what it looks like inside there at the door handle. Getting the door handle off was easy. Putting it back on was much harder. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

Hi, just curious which site did you find the actuator? I've been looking for a few days and can only find ones starting at $150 and up. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

@@shadetreediy3890 I just realized that I was looking to replace the actual door latch/lock, but didn't realize that that little actuator is probably the main issue. Going to try that part you mentioned and see if that's the fix. Thank you so much for the resonse and video. Great work!
