Outstanding vehicle. I have the 2010 Platinum model on 4wd. Safe, strong, reliable and extremely comfortable for the whole family . Toyota reliability, nothing beats it. This thing is a tank !

Just bought a 2012 Limited last week 157,000 to replace my over quarter million mile Range Rover. The rover has held up in the oilfields of Texas and now it’s the Sequoias turn.

I have a 2009 Toyota Sequoia Platinum 4x4. 180,xxx miles. Love it. No repairs. It pulls a 28' foot travel trailer like it's not back there and one of my favorite features is the rear air ride suspension. It never sags regardless of weight. It's always level. I hate seeing brand new SUV's and pickups sagging bad while towing or carrying a load while my 11 year old Sequoia always sits perfectly level. Best SUV in my opinion. Get the Platinum 4x4 and you can take this thing and do anything with it.
@mattwlane

Any issues with the air suspension? I'm looking at 2008 Platinum with 194k miles and I'm worried everything will start breaking soon.
@ralphv.5026
@ralphv.5026 3 жыл бұрын
@@mattwlane no issues at all with the air suspension. I believe it’s fairly easy and cheap to repair if anything does go wrong. Another cheap option is replacing the air bags with regular shocks like some people do when lifting them.

@@ralphv.5026 Agreed! Don't see any reason to buy a big SUV with two wheel drive! How many miles do you have on yours now? 194k is a lot (the one I'm looking at) but it seems these just go and go.

I just got a TRD Pro. Love it. I checked out Expedition, Tahoe, and even some midsize SUVs. None appealed to my needs except for the sequoia. I hope to have it for years. Would be nice if Toyota put a 9 or ten speed transmission.

The Biggest plus on the Sequoia is what I hate on all mid size and Full size SUV'S. The third row seat. I must say the Sequoia has the best 3rd row out there. Even the longer Suburban. The Suburban just gives you back the trunk space. But the seats on all the third row SUVs are too close to the floor. If you are modestly tall you wont have to worry about your knees compressed into your chest.

Just picked up a 2011 SR5 and LOVE IT. Have to do a few small tasks on it but nothing major. Mostly tightening things. I also see you have Weather tech stuff in yours here. I'm Doing the same. One question. A reason I got this huge SUV is that I am taller and want to put all seats down and sleep in the back when I go on long trips. The middle row and back row leave a gap between them. Is that normal? Put a mattress down and it caves in that spot. Is this normal or am I missing a piece that connects them smoothly? I have slid the seats and the gap does not close.

@@DrivenCompanion Ive looked at videos and pictures. But don't see anythjng. It def FEELS like I'm missing a piece that covers that gap. The rear seats when down have this piece (flap) from the trunk area. What seems like I'm missing. No idea what it would be called or how to get a replacement.

My 2014 SR5 has the same gap. I have seen other models that have a panel that flips down closing the gap. I also wanted to be able to throw in a camping mattress and sleep inside my Sequoia. I just got a piece of plywood, cut to size, to cover the gap. Works just fine.

The Other Guy I think it has to do with complaint standards (tow rating does alter after new standards are in place), read here: www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/features/no-go-for-standardized-tow-ratings.html
@kpokfposkf
@kpokfposkf 4 жыл бұрын
The Other Guy so technically you can say new trucks with 7k lbs rating can safely tow 10k, but they are not certified to make that statement, if you check vehicles specifications, often times, in EU, their vehicles have double the tow rating than NA cars simply because they have different standards albeit they are the exact same model

Depends on how you look at it. Move 8 people in comfort at 15mpg. Or cram 5 people into something small for better mileage. My other vehicle is a 1999 Avalon. I love being able to take my family of four, plus my wife's sister, her husband and two kids all in our Sequoia to go places. Otherwise we'd have to take two vehicles! And how is that work for saving gas? It doesn't.

@@sspadair1675zombie comment reply, but it’s so true. I’ve taken my two girls in car seats, wife, and MIL in our Highlander for overnight trips out of town. It was a bit snug with all our stuff. We got into an accident, the insurance gave us an Armada as a rental. Night and day difference. Gas is terrible, especially here in California, but I think it’s a fair compromise for the occasional road trip.
