Nice job! I like your modifications to Eric's basic bed design. Increased versatility. Nice solid construction. I really liked your si ple solution to use that harder to reach areas under the middle of the bed, attaching one storage tray to the other so they pull out together. Nice.

Nice ideas, I can use my real piano hinges from my old upright piano I got rid of. The reason I had the hinges still, the piano was under restoration then the humidity did the piano in. I would want full width so my wife and I can sleep. I will have to use under the bed storage option. The seat well will house the refrigerator unless I decide to put it outside on the hitch but inside is a better option. The well will also house a battery and inverter. To charge I will start just using grid power and alternator power while driving. Later a solar panel will make for three way charging. I don't want to build too much just the bed and maybe a small galley in back. One thing I forgot the front console will be replaced with a small refrigerator for drinks and water. 73

Wunderbarer indeenreicher Ausbau.

Really outstanding! Love the stain color. Do you remember what you used for the curtain rod and glue? Which cooking location do you find you are using most and do you regret not finding a spot for the fridge in the van where its a little more accessible? Cheers!
@DenizenofAwe10 ай бұрын
Ive been backpacking in Central America for a while so i haven’t been using the van lately but i was using the latching pop up outside the side door the most. Yeah i think it would have been awesome to have constant access to the fridge in front but i didn’t want to give up the space…
@DenizenofAwe10 ай бұрын
I used a hot glue gun (to the ceiling) and some super glue (to the vinyl sunroof rim) for the curtain slider. It’s actually a plastic curtain slider not a rod
@ronaldruntenelli77004 ай бұрын
Nice build .In watching many you tube videos about van conversions I haven't found any comments about the floor. How did you go about leveling the floor for the bed frame?
@DenizenofAwe2 ай бұрын
@@ronaldruntenelli7700 the floor does slope slightly down towards the front but it doesn’t matter because only the front two legs of the bedframe are on the floor, and the rear legs of the bedframe are in the back in the trunk basin. Basically you just need to park your van somewhere where the ground is level and then measure the length of the four bedframe legs to make the bed level. It’s best to try and work on your van when it’s parked somewhere on level ground. Ultimately, it’s not important to get it perfectly level, just close as you can

@denizenofawe is there any type of roller mechanism for the bed to slide up and down between sleeper and couch mode, or is it a bit of a clunky wood on wood feel to the process? Asking because I would like to build a similar bed, but am not quite sure I am seeing all of the steps clearly... Thanks for the video, hope you see my question soon!

Love your build. I was looking for a van with rear moon roof so I can stand up. Is there a certain model or did you have that installed after.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@DenizenofAwe Жыл бұрын
I went for a specific model. With 3rd generation Toyota Siennas (2010-2020) I think they only made the rear panoramic moonroof for their "Limited" model. Not sure about Honda Odyssey or Pacifica...

20:10 - How does that release the spare? Isn’t that at the front?
@DenizenofAwe Жыл бұрын
Yes. The spare is toward the front of the van (more specifically, it’s by the sliding door on the passenger side). The spare is held under the van there by a bolt and the nut that keeps the bolt suspended is inside the van, accessible through the floor hole I made. You can unscrew the nut from the inside, and the bolt with the spare tire will lower onto the ground outside.

hi how much did it cost you for the entire build and how long did it take you?
@DenizenofAwe Жыл бұрын
Those are really good questions! Unfortunately, I was working on the van over the course of the last year or so while also working my day job so it's hard to quantify the time. However, I did work on the first part (the bed, bed frame, and cabinets (not the kitchen area)) full-time for a month or so. After that I would work in two or three hour segments so it was very inefficient. Also, I would often sit there and ponder/brainstorm for dozens of minutes and then test things out/tinker...It was a labor of love so I didn't think about time. That being said, it took months and months longer than I ever imagined. I did keep track of most of the receipts but haven't added them all up yet. I hope to do that soon

That looks great!!'I currently drive a no build 2018 Dodge Caravan. I've done a number of overnights. I'm just starting to learn about Jackery Battery. ...question, does it charge up and hold a charge from my cigarette 🚬 power plug, or do I need to charge it up by plugging into an outlet I'm looking at getting a 500 (hope good Friday is good to me)😂 I only need to run a fantastic little skillet 🍳 that cooks everything!
@chrisbarclay42573 ай бұрын
Personally, I think that the choice of that stain is unfortunate..... I would have been better painting the wood in one of the same grays as the rest of the interior or choose a shade of gray that's a bit different but in the same family.
