Just started looking at these Toyota campers again, wife is taking travel nursing assignments. My first car was a 98 4runner with the 3.4, my mechanic said that it was the best engine Toyota ever made, even better than the 22RE. Either way, I would be glad to have a Toyota powered camper, and it's definitely nice having it on a truck chassis instead of a van, much nicer to work on. Great comparison

Hands down, the Sunrader is the sexiest of the Toy Homes. I have always wanted one, but... '93 Itasca Spirit here, 34,000 miles. Never a problem with the 3.0 V6, but it could use a little more umpf! Camped next to a newly-wed couple a few years back. They had just bought a Sunrader V6 with 99K on it, and wanted to see mine. She was my height (5'8") and he was a couple of inches taller. They were going to live and work out of it full time. She went crazy as soon as she saw the space in the overhead bunk. (I can sit up in it and not hit my head.) Then, "I can't believe how big your shower is!" I explained that my last Toy-home, '86 Dolphin, was close to their Sunrader, and Winnebago shortened the 6' sofa by ~6" and that made for the larger shower. Great for taking a shower, but the few times I slept on the couch I had to sleep diagonally. Also, they loved the larger overhead cabinets. The Sunrader has a lower roof on the sides, leaving less headroom in the cabinets, plus, the doors angle from the ceiling towards the walls, making it possible for items to fall out as soon as you open the doors. The Itasca brochure lists the length as 21½ feet, but the fairgrounds where I store it says 22 feet even. The brochure says 9'2" height with the 7,200btu roof air. I have not checked that. (The Warrior and the Spirit are the same, except for badging, decals, and cabinet handles and blind color. I do not have dimensions for the Sunrader.) Just my guess, the Sunrader has to be more aerodynamic, and therefore better mpg, and able to stay in overdrive longer, I would think.

Even at 5/8 I bet her hair was rubbing the air conditioner and the lights, I looked at several of these toyotas and noticed that headroom in the warriors to be noticeably more then in the sunrader as much as I like the sunrader better that was a dealbreaker for me I'm 6ft so I bought an Itasca [ exact same as warrior]..... And now realize not only do I not have to slouch walking around but the better build quality of the Winnebago Itasca is obvious

@@SirDrifto I like them both personally. The good thing is they aren’t too big & not too small . Just right . With the price of fuel those two are better economically. As with anything keep the tire pressure to the correct setting. Check & replace the air filter if need be . Tune ups .ect .

Small suspension lift, 16 inch wheels, narrow 30 inch tires, re gear to compensate for the tires, locking differential of your choice, 5 speed, 3.4 V6 sounds good to me.

@@SirDrifto the good thing about sun raider's it has 2 piece shell, less likely to leak at the seems, and if u can keep the seals around the windows good in sealed up the only place u can have a leak is the roof vent or air conditioner, if u keep any place sealed up on the roof 1or2 times a year depending on where you have it the most, really just a yearly maintenance and ur good to go, I really was impressed by the red warrior, inside was real nice especially the booth and couch, the bed over Cab could have a 3or4 inch pillow top or memory foam and it would have been real comfortable, but I am curious to see what you have now, I have always wanted to get a Toyota warrior or a itasca, Winnebago I like the rear bathrooms because it has a full dry bathroom in it. But that is probably the best warrior I have every seen, inside. Looked immaculant

DO NOT do a 4x4 conversion. All Toyhomes are very tailheavy..A bit of a lift, a posi or locker rear end, preferably a 4.88 and a good bumper winch and you’ll go anywhere an RV has any business going.

@SirDrifto3 жыл бұрын
Youre not wrong 😂, the warrior did sell for a pretty price. But i never was honestly super stoked on the interior layout. Felt it was lots of wasted space. The sunrader in my opinion is far more efficient and that rear dinettes has been a want of mine.
