Great tutorial! I had to use a round file and elongate the lock assembly arm holes a bit to fit. The metal is real soft, doesn't take much effort. I first aligned the new handle with the door tab hole, cinched it down in place with the other bolt, then "adjusted" the lock assembly to final fit. Better than stock!

I was tired of the handle itself breaking. The metal handles have been going strong this whole time.

I have found the handles break because of a failing latch assembly. As the assemblies get old, they stick and require more force to open. If you replace the latch assembly, you'll be amazed how much better the handle feels. Just my two cents- cheers

The metal handles I bought off of ebay had bigger mounting holes for the bolts and they dont come with so they didnt work, havent heard back from the seller .where can I get the right mounting bolts? They were all good but for that.

Go to home depot and find some that fit. I'd say this should be the last time you ever have to replace the handle so might as well.

How has it held up?? Everyone always complains about longevity with after market handles. Also how has it dealt with the heat? Since it's metal wouldn't it be scorching hot in the summer? Thanks!

I was very nervous about them becoming too hot in the summer. I believe they are build out of aluminum and that makes sure it's not hot to grab even in direct sunlight mid-summer. These handles are still doing great.
