In the first video of this project I demonstrated the easiest methods of removing old Plasti Dip coatings from an automotive trim piece (Toyota Tacoma grill bezel) to prepare for a repaint.

This final video will demonstrate how to quickly and easily repaint your trim piece using a more permanent professional color coating. The grill bezel being painted here has already been sanded down to provide a coarse textured surface for the paint to properly adhere to. I recommend always doing a light sanding of any part being painted, especially plastic items like this one that have a smooth coating which won't work well to hold paint long term.
ABOUT THE PAINT:
The paint used in this video is SEM Color Coat "Trim Black Aerosol #39143" (flat black). This is the absolute best automotive trim paint I have ever used, it is very easy to apply and will last for a very long time. Still looks perfect. I've used the same SEM trim paint for years and it holds up very well, better than Plasti Dip that's for sure.

So no primer or sanding at all ?

No primer at all, just some light sanding and several coats of paint. I have another video that shows the cleaning and sanding I did on this before painting it. You may notice that the chrome looks dull at the beginning which is because I lightly sanded it before painting it the first time several years ago and again when cleaning off the plasti dip.

I used P400 grit and it worked pretty well, but really anything not too fine that etches up the surface should work.

Would you recommend this over plasti dip?reason I’m Asking is because I’m wanting to blacken my tacoma grille and I already ordered Plasti dip

Plasti dip is great, I used it for many years on this grill before repainting it with the SEM paint here and it lasted longer than I expected. Really it's just all about preference and whether or not you want a more flat black painted look like this one or the deeper "wet" flat look of plasti dip. Both are great options and I don't really recommend one over the other. If you ever plan to remove the paint then definitely go with plasti dip. Be sure to lightly sand the surface of your grill to etch it up and use several layers of it so it will last longer.
