I have a 2020 Tacoma, was able to use TomsKeyCompany programming device and method as shown here in the video. I now have 2 extra keys for way less than what the dealer was willing to do. Dealer wanted $250 per key. I got 2 keys Through Toms.....$50 per keyfob = $100, $45 programmer rental, $8 to cut 2 keys at the Locksmith. So my grand total for 2 keys $153 (~$77 per key)!!...plus about 30 min of my time to do the key programing.

Here where I live, there is a place that will charge $120.00 for the first key and 75.00 for an additional one. With Toms Key,I do not think they will ever do business with me. Can I only rent the programmer since I already have a new unprogramed key?

I have a 2015 Tacoma, easy and straight forward instructions, but before you do anything read the instructions and DO NOT GET YOUR KEYS CUT BEFORE PROGRAMMING, because it can mess up the programming

Bought a 2017 Tacoma and it came with just one key. Dealership price for new key fob/programing was ridiculous. Ordered two keys and rented the programmer for less than one key from dealership. Tom's keys want a $80 deposit to rent the transponders. You get 50% refund after you mail the transponder to them. Dealer charges $80 to program. 6 of 1 half dozen of another.

Good to know that you have a place that charges a reasonable price. Many places it costs 2, 3, or even 4 times our prices to have the dealer make another key.

Dealership wanted over $100 per key plus an additional $150 for programming the keys. I only had one key and wanted three additional so over $450 and I still had to purchase key fobs. I purchased 3 keys, 3 key fobs and rented the programmer for under $100. What was nice is I was able to erase all the old keys that the original owner might still have and then program the new keys and key fobs. Took me about 15 minutes to program everything as long as you follow the instructions step by step. They also provided a cell phone with the programmer that already had the install App on it and instantly connected to the programmer, so I did not have to download anything. Great customer service. Answered my email question within 24 hours when I had a question. The programmer did the job and does work.

Worked perfectly! Just watch the video and follow the steps and it'll work. Took me ten minutes because I was stopping to watch the video. The dealership wants $379 plus tax. Tom's saved me over $200.

Can anyone confirm this works with 2021 Tacomas? I chatted with someone at toms key and they state they haven't tested that model year yet. It looks like it's the same thing to me. The FCC # on my key matches what is listed in the product page, however the guarantee to work only applies to 2016-2020 models. I don't want to waste $100+ if it won't work.

Matthew - since you were able to confirm the FCC ID is the same, it is highly likely that the programmer will work for your vehicle. And if it doesn't we will still give you full money back when you send the key and programmer back. Please reply to the email with customer service and mention that Mike and William believe this will work. In your email please include your VIN and FCC ID and ask that the info be shared with Mike and William. Then he sure to reply to the email letting us know if you have success or if we can help with troubleshooting

You need a new programmer for each vehicle. The programmer reads the VIN number and becomes locked to the first vehicle it makes a key for.

All went well with the programming of both the remote and the key for our 2020 Toyota Tacoma. Reviewed the proper KZbin video for our specific Make and Model, and it only took me about 5 minutes to get all the programming for the remote and key done. Afterwards, had the key cut at Walmart and it properly started the truck after it was done. Very happy customer. Will keep you in mind when and if I ever need another programmed for any of our other vehicles.

This is a fantastic service. I bought a used 2021 Tacoma that only had 1 key fob. I first went to a local locksmith that I've used for years: "we can't do these Gen3 Toyota Tacoma keys yet because the programming needs to be done by the dealership". By accident I found Tom's Key Company online. I was pretty sure it would not work, but since there was a $-back guarantee if it did not, hey I'll give it a try. I had 2 physical keys made from images I took of the key I had and ordered 2 fobs. The kit and two keys arrived within about a week. Both physical keys worked with no "deburring" needed. More importantly, following the video instructions above, it literally took 2 minutes to program the fobs. Amazing. Tom's Key Company sends you not only the key fob programmer, but also a paired phone that has the software pre-loaded. You just turn on the phone and it is already paired to the little programmer they send. It could not have been easier. Oh, and the cost for 2 keys / key fobs was a lot less than the dealership cost for 1! Can't recommend this company enough. Thank you!

Hey, I have a 2021 Tacoma. Tom's Key told me they can't guarantee it'll work. I feel like it probably will and now I see your comment that it worked for you. I have an SR model with a regular ignition, not push button or smart key. Have a key with the lock/unlock/panic button. H stamp at key base. FCC# HYQ12BDP. Does any of this look familiar to you? Appreciate any help you can offer. No way I'm paying the dealership $500!

Dealership quoted me $425 for a new key. Mom&Pop locksmith quoted me $275. Spent $175 at Tom’s key (includes refundable $80 deposit). Once I received the programmer, and followed the steps in the video exactly, the key programmed as advertised. Got the key cut at Crestlock Baltimore for $3.00. Side note, this is not a genuine Toyota key. Quality is marginal, but to have a spare key again for less then $100 bucks, and works the same as the original, is worth it to me.

Responding the individual who asked what city I was in: I'm in Portland OR and that was the local dealership. Unfortunately all I have is the spare key One final thing, I don't remember the exact price, but it was very close to 850. That included the programing and all that stuff, plus a spare key. All I want is an extra key for when I lock myself out. If it has remote door lock on it okay, but that's all I need. I think they were going to include a remote start, but I'm too old for that kind of stuff. It can not add new features to a vehicle. If the truck was not manufactured with lock/unlock buttons, buttons can not be added. If you have a master key, it can be used to add another key though.
