Our Tacoma crawl control video has received muck skepticism about the technology and the truck's capabilities. This video puts that argument to rest.

Did you guys air down at Big Bear? As a noob offroader that is the first thing to do offroading. Well technically the first thing is be sure you have a air compressor. Lol
@rudedogii6 жыл бұрын
No need to air down. Only if you need more traction and a smoother ride.
@Tankerpaul2236 жыл бұрын
Noobs should probably avoid the trail that requires them to air down. lol I play with a prerunner, Ko2s at 30 psi have yet to get me stuck. I cant argue though, softer tires do make a noticeable difference, especially with open diff and 2wd.
@rudedogii6 жыл бұрын
You can air down only when necessary. Like stuck in deep sand but it also makes for a smoother ride on any trail. I run 40psi on the hiway and 20 on the trail. Could go lower but not necessary. I've gone as low as 10 psi out on the Dunes. No need to go lower than necessary.
@marklitzow27436 жыл бұрын
Rob Daman Exactly what I was thinking. My Gu patrol doesn't have crawl control and the only two times I've nearly been stuck in sand I've been able to continue on with no assistance. But think it comes down to experience and knowing vehicle limits.

At the time this was shot, neither the ZR2 nor the TRD PRO were available. So actually, TRD Off-Road vs Z71 is indeed a fair comparison. And the Z71 is more expensive. The ZR2 is ever MORE expensive so you really need to get your trims straight.
@mikemartinez18856 жыл бұрын
thedriversseat My apologies...
@2005OEFArmy6 жыл бұрын
@thedriversseat I call BS on that statement. The cheapest advertized new TRD Offroad in my area(Minneapolis, MN) is advertised at $37,455(auto trans), while the cheapest new gas Z71(which comes with the auto locking diff just like the diesel) is adverised at $31,977. The cheapest new diesel Z71 $36,685. That's a $6,000 difference if you are comparing apples to apples, and even the diesel version is almost $1K cheaper. Your reply, right here, clearly shows you are biased, because you can't even tell your viewers the truth about pricing. The Taco's MSRP is $400 less, but we are talking about real world prices where Chevy always has great deals and Taco's sell at or even above MSRP.

@Aroceen6 жыл бұрын
Both trucks perform exceptionally well, and really it depends on what you're looking for in a truck. Those of you that think that you can mimic Crawl Control using light throttle clearly do not understand how it works. You cannot individually detect slippage thousands of times per second in each individual wheel, and apply brake force to each wheel at different rates simultaneously by using "light throttle". Is it a perfect system? No, not at all. Is it far superior to going out there hoping to rely on "light throttle" to try and get yourself out of sand? You're damn right it is.
@Greg-wz7fk6 жыл бұрын
I would say the problem with this video is the fact he didn't try light throttle when attempting to get out. Crawl Control is neat, but it's kind of hard to say he "needed" crawl control when he didn't attempt to get out the proper way. Granted I'm pretty sure half the point of crawl control is to help people who don't know what they're doing.
@Offshore19776 жыл бұрын

@namtrinh46956 жыл бұрын
You get real, and open your eyes and read the article, it's all about rust that caused all the failures , facts not fake news, toyotas doesn't last forever, not reliability as many think they are, plus i ain't no chevy guy either.
@2005OEFArmy6 жыл бұрын
As someone who favors Japanese cars, this is absolutely not true. For whatever reason, Rams do rust quickly, but Chevys and Fords last longer as far as sheet metal is concerned. Mechanically - not so much.
@10WA6 жыл бұрын
Alexander Golubev Jr - Thats not true here in the midwest. Chevy anything especially trucks are the worst for rust. Even our 2012 and 2013 company trucks which get washed and cleaned often are already starting to rust. This is the same when I got to dealerships and look at used trucks. Chevys always have the most rust.

@ZombieInc6616 жыл бұрын
not the same
@Bradington6 жыл бұрын
Nope, Crawl control uses the ECU, ABS, throttle and traction controls to compute available traction and send power to each wheel individually as needed. Normal 4wd low sends power 50/50 to front and back and does not adjust individual wheel torque.

For sand, yes, light throttle. Crawl control makes a noob better off road, but true experience and knowledge of your vehicle are invaluable to proper off roading technique. My two cents. The Tacoma has always had its market...not too big not too small. When the Colorado(S-10) and Ranger were gone their customers(most of them) bought silverados and F150s. Why not, their leases were just as cheap or were made to be cheap. Now that they brought them back, I cannot see that they want to lose Silverado and F150 customer so...Ford and GM wanting to be in the "market" are importing their overseas models to north america. Cheap and easy to do. However, that Colorado looks like a badged Izuzu pick up and of course the Ranger is the Australian equivalent. Blah blah blah, nevertheless, they can only drive the Tacoma to a higher price and hopefully, Toyota will see that and prevent it. Still, the Tacoma is a proven product and most(90%) will stay loyal as their needs for this vehicle is less fad and more lifestyle.
