I'm definitely a noob at the offroad thing, and think I'll put 34's (285/75/17) on the stock rims, a skidplate for the rear diff and gas tank, and MAYBE a 1-2" lift later if I feel I need it, and that's good enough for me AND I saved a ton of money over the Bison. That the Bison is priced in Ranger Raptor territory without an engine upgrade would make me favor the Raptor if I felt like spending that kind of money. I'm more of an "overlanding" guy (though I don't camp), but since I go everywhere solo, I want MORE capability than I think I'll ever need to make sure I get back.

I feel like they picked the most “go fast” versions of those trucks but 75 percent of the ratings and the review was the rock climbing portion. So maybe I’m bias, but would the trail hunter Tacoma make a difference?
@SuperGdhf6 ай бұрын
This is a fair question. Personally, I don’t think it would make any difference at all, really. The TRD Pro and Trailhunter share the same frame, drive train, power plant, wheelbase (unless you spec the THunter with a 6’ box). Same 4WD modes, each have a stabi-bar disconnect and a locking rear diff. The only major differences are the frame-mounted rock sliders and the suspension on the Hunter. So perhaps that could make a difference, and now that I think about it, it certainly would. I think it’s certainly worth exploring - would be cool to see a TRD Pro and Trailhunter go directly head to head. In a variety of conditions, high and low speed. I’m not a Tacoma engineer or expert - I’m merely going off of everything I’ve learned about these rigs. :)

Wow Goodyear getting a flat...is anybody surprised? They definitely peaked with the MT/R and have descended into mediocrity ever since.

This test price wise is stupid. Put the TRD against the V6 F150 Raptor to make it fair. Toyota said they are basically the same.

Colorado looks great...but Chevy hasnt built a reliable vehicle since 2013. I'd take a Ranger Tremor or even a Frontier pro4x over any of these.

Alrighty. So to supercharge a 2005 4L Tacoma, replace all the suspension with dirt king, fox and Deaver parts, regear it, put 35s on it, beadlock wheels, and a front locker your grand total comes to 23,384 dollars before tax and whatever labour you can’t do. Also you still have to buy a Gen 1 Tacoma with a frame good enough to handle the abuse for about 10-15g.
