I like the slick bed of the taco. Ultra gritty rhino lining is a pain in the as* to slide things across. I can always strap items down. But most of the time I’m sliding items in and out. With no line X gritty texture, I don’t have to climb into the bed and lift things out most of the time. Also the steel/ aluminum beds get dented like crazy. Even reasonably small rocks dent them. Then the lining starts to disbond.

Great and fair review. I usually like the Tacoma most but the Ranger seems to be the best value. Toyota significantly increased the price on this gen. However I wish Ford used the gen 2 2.3 ecoboost (with dual injection) like Toyota does with their D4S system to prevent carbon buildup. The Tacoma having TSS and composite bed are very nice standard equipment as well. Colorado/canyon are having way too many quality issues and GM has a poor reliability record over the last 15 years.

For the first time in four years there are big discounts on full size trucks again. Lots are filling up. I'd expect the prices on these to come down soon as well. I've gone to the dealer and looked at most of these. I came so close to pulling the trigger on the Canyon, but I have so many reservations about GM quality lately. I found out the reason I couldn't find any Canyons on the lot was because GM had put a stop on all of them recently to fix more software issues. For 50k+, there shouldn't be so many reports of transmission and software issues all over the place. There are incentives everywhere I look on full size trucks, to the extent that you can find a similarly equipped one for less than mid-size! But, having owned a 2019 Silverado before, full size is simply too much truck for my uses. Too big and too bulky for me. I guess I'll just keep my current vehicle for the time being and wait to see if prices come down and reliability issues stop being such an issue.

Yes, those same people tend to forget that the other choices still have direct injection, cylinder deactivation, variable valve timing, DOHC, etc attached to 8-9-10 speed transmissions and spec'ing thin oil. No truck on the market today is simple. They are all chock full of expensive points of failure. Turbos can and do fail sometimes, yes, but they are one of my least concerns on modern drivetrains. Their low end torque and economy under light loads makes them ideal in light truck applications, IMO. I absolutely love mine.

@@connorbasile Yes, you can say that with any manufacturer. The build quality on my F-150 leaves something to be desired to be sure, but it hasn't given me any trouble in over 5 years now. I'm definitely glad I bought it instead of a Tundra, which IMO was overpriced and underwhelming in comfort, performance, and capability. I've bought the "reliable" choices before based on Consumer Reports and fan boy claims. But they still broke and weren't very enjoyable vehicles. I've been buying what I like instead for 14 years now and have not regretted it. Life's to short too drive what other people think you ought to.
@EC_ATV_Outdoors
@EC_ATV_Outdoors Ай бұрын
@@connorbasile absolutely, but people base opinions and purchases on the BS that Toyota's are legendary just because of the olden days Hilux. Every maker has some known issues/flaws. You just need to be aware of them, the costs, and if they are deal breakers to you. Basically my comment was to point out that Toyota's aren't exceptionally reliable over others, despite what people hear. Take care of your vehicle, and every brand will do decades of service. I'm sure TFL's issue isn't the norm, but I'd take another brands exhaust leak tick over the front diff leaving me stranded. And I wouldn't trust a Ford at all lol. But I'm from a motor city of GM and Chrysler. So a little bias there based on friends and families income source. And I don't believe in buying foreign. Made in NA or not.

And besides TFL ''s Tacoma breaking for really no reason I know of a few that had similar problems. So I think the Toyota reliability of yesterday is now gone. I was once thinking of buying a Tundra (an older one, 05 & up) but after looking at the specs they just can't haul or tow what the three American trucks can.

I built all of them sorta the way I'd spec them and there's not much between them. Heated seats are a must......probably the option i use the most(Alberta). Box size.....sigh Tacoma is a big vehicle when you add the larger box. Prices.....all were in 54-57K C$(GM the highest) Options and packages add up in a hurry. And as usual you may want one thing but are forced to take a package worth thousands to get it. I still don't like the look of the Tacoma,yet to see a new Ranger,and the GM/Chev look good. The 2.7L in the Ranger.....I'd be going that route😊

Great video. Between the 3 I'd probably go with either the Tacoma with a stick, or wait for the 2.7 V6 Ranger. I previously had a Frontier Pro4x and one nice thing about the Frontier still is you can get a 4 door with a 6 foot bed. Really makes it better for hauling stuff, if maybe less capable off road.

@@ALMX5DP yes, but it became unsafe to drive for the person. He was skinny, but 6'3 maybe 6'4. But even a RAM quad cab, the back seat is fine for an adult, but a rear facing seat had me too close to the steering wheel. I could still operate with safety, but not comfortably. And they really wanted to keep the taco, but with me having 4 various car seats to try (yeah, I have lots of kids), none worked out for the rear facing setup. If your kids are in boosters, the only issue would be dirty feet on the back of the front seats.

For me, The GM has a good value to option ratio but I don't like the G80 that much. I love the styling. I really like the Ford, especially if I can get the 2.7L in it. Getting an XLT with a locker is a good option. I don't think it's the better value though which could change my mind it the Ford isn't priced accordingly. I wouldn't buy any of them the first year out. The GM's have worked out a few major problems and it looks like Toyota is going to go through the same thing. I still own a 2005 4Runner and can't seem to part with it. The V8 may have a bit to do with it though!
