Tire Pressure Sensors are ridiculus, particularly if you put winter snows on. Just check tire pressure frequently and keep and inflator in the trunk. Fortunately Ontario doesn't requite the system to be working to pass a Safety.
@RealWorldGarageАй бұрын
@@bhut1571 yeah having to program a new set of sensors every time you guys have to swap on winter tires would just be an added problem and expense. Living where I do, we don’t have that issue, we only have to deal with that kind of weather maybe one day a year if that. Sometimes it goes years between any snow or Ice event. We deal with more rain than anything.

I am having the same problem with my 2020 Corolla (just bought it): Holding OK to reset doesn't seem to do anything. But sometimes the warning light still goes off after a short drive. Sometimes it goes on again after a while. Forgot to mention it at the Toyota car service and they didn't seem to notice it at all... So I guess it's not a big deal. But as a result I don't really trust the warning system.

I didn't have to go through the reset once I got my tires squared away. Got the notification to go to the dealer after a flat and once I installed a new tire and drove for a couple minutes it reset itself! This is on a 2021 highlander hybrid

That resetting a sensor. This is a complete reset for the TPWS, tire pressure warning system, what the tire sensors report into.

You just need to drive for few minutes after resting tire pressure
@RealWorldGarage4 ай бұрын
For the TPMS to recognize that you aired up a tire, yes. This is the system itself, TPWS, it requires a hard reset. Watch the video.

Did the one tire set at 38 PSI cause the light to activate?
@RealWorldGarage Жыл бұрын
It was at 37psi, the others were at 35 or so. I raised them all to 36.5 to 37. I’m not sure what caused the issue. You have to think about these new vehicles and their systems like big laptops or tablets, they need to be restarted and sometimes need updates. Initializing the TPWS is like doing a restart on your computer.

Coming off an Audi this car sucks big time. Toyota still hasn't figured out how program the transmission properly so it shifts normally, the seats will cause you all kinds of back pains as they're not designed properly. Was the same in my lexus 350. TPMS monitoring system doesn't work properly, All the steering controls are way too close together and way too small leading to you hitting the wrong button constantly. It's a good thing this car is apparently reliable because driving it is a horrible experience.
@RealWorldGarageАй бұрын
Not sure what all of your experience has to do with the TPWS or tpms?? But i appreciate your comment. I’ve not had the same experience you’ve had. We’ve enjoyed ours.
@biglike7981Ай бұрын
I do thank you for your TPWS reset instructions. It worked for about 1hr. Now back to service to understand why something so basic that's been around for so long is problematic.

Toyota electronics are horrible. I have a 2022 Highlander and it has the same problem. It also locks the doors when I approach the vehicle. Won't remote start either.
@RealWorldGarage10 ай бұрын
I’ve not really had any issues I couldn’t resolve on my own. If you haven’t locked the vehicle and touch the handle it will think you want to lock it. It took a few try’s for me to master the remote start as well. Toyota electronics are actually pretty solid, you have to learn how to get along with them. What vehicle are you coming from??
@anoka11410 ай бұрын
Terrain One comment I have is that I don't think I should have to get along with a cars controls. They should be seamless for the price we pay.@@RealWorldGarage

@anoka114 what car are you coming from, because this is the way most cars are now, you have to learn how they work and their quirks.

I also have a 2022 Toyota Highlander, and I struggle with the electronics, now showing TPWS Malfunction. I just had one replacement of a Tire Sensor, 3 weeks ago. I was wondering if it was a defective sensor, and yesterday that TPWS light went on. I turned to the screen that normally has all the tire pressures on it, no air pressures are being shown, I'm thinking of getting the psi, checked manually anyway, and hopefully, it may reset. But want to be safe.
