Purchased one of the last 2022 Avalon limited hybrids from an out-of-state dealership and drove it home. Tried and tried to set the memory seat function for my wife and me to a frustrating end. Talked to our local Toyota service department. They were useless. Never thought to talk to the sales department. Watching your video cleared, no pun intended the memory on the seats and was able to then set the two positions. Thanks for the post.

This helped me save tons of money before sending my 08 lexus is250 for memory seat repairs, it miraculously works just by initializing the seat. Remember to keep it in ignition mode or engine turned on or else it wont work with the engine turned off.

I can confirm that this solution works on the Land cruiser LC300 2022 model. I collected the car two days ago and my problem was that when I recall the seat position it only moves the side mirrors and the steering wheel, the seat won't move at all. I have read the OM so many times and no luck till I found this video. Best 3 mins I've spent on KZbin.

Thank you so much. It works. But dear Toyota HQ: Sorry, but this is insane. No word about this in the manual. No dealership (at least here in Europe) knows about this or warns you after purchase. I really started to think it was a defect. Really annoying because the seat automatically moves to the back when you exit. But when you reenter it doesn't move to the front again without this fix. There is no error signal that the saving didn't work or anything. I was consulting the manual time and again. When you try to save the position it beeps normally but the position is just ignored. What were they thinking? I had to resort to researching this issue on KZbin in English. Not everyone can speak English and is able to do that. Crazy.

Wow Thanks! I cannot believe this worked I thought I was in for a trip to the dealer after just getting my Japan made 2022 Rav4 Excel delivered to the U.K. dealer. Scratching my head as to why the memory seat positions were not working (I was following the manual!), read a thread about how the dealer should use Toyota Techstream software to 'program' the vehicle, but this totally worked to enable the seat memory function. Makes you wonder if the dealer or someone missed a bit of configuration somewhere. Many thanks again from me and my wife (seat position number 2).

Thanks for this video! It solved one of the head scratchers I had with my 2023 Prius Prime XSE Premium I just got a few weeks ago. 😊. I just wish the Prius also saved & moved the mirror positions as part of the “driver position” profile, but it seems to only move the seat. I wonder if that could be enhanced with a future software update? Probably wishful thinking. 😕

From a programming point of view, it is hard to understand why this wouldn’t be included, the mirrors are already powered, how much more code would it take to save two positions to link up to the profile? Saving the seat setting is only 50% of the “driver position” job (if that). 🤨

Thanks for the video, the Seat (Position Control) ECU Initialization also worked on our 2022 Lexus NX. I guess they forgot to do this when we picked up our new car. Why do we pay for PDI?!? 😂

In the RAV4, can the memory position also be saved to the FOBs like the Avalon? In our Ford, depending on which FOB we use to enter, the seats adjust accordingly. When I am using my FOB, the seats adjust to my memory setting. When my wife is using her FOB, the seat adjusts to her memory setting. Thanks in advance.

Great question, and great content for our future video. The answer is Yes, on certain vehicles this setting can be done with your smart key fob. Whichever fob you want set up with memory setting 1, have this in the vehicle. Make sure you only have one key fob in the vehicle at a time. With doors closed, press setting 1 & unlock button on the door until you hear a beep. This should set up your key fob. You can repeat this for your second key fob with setting 2. Let us know if this works for you.
