So you take home $9k a month. 1/9th of your income isn’t that bad. You’d still have $8k left over for mortgage and bills and food. And savings for retirement. Seems pretty decent to me.

If you take home 110k or 9k/month, you are earning probably around 200k a year, unless your getting paid off the books.

@@NomenClature-o8s yeah that’d be a great move for sure. But a car can last well over 20 years if taken care of. My father still has his ‘94 Silverado. Nobody would be forever paying $1k a month for a car. Invest after you buy a car if you need a car.

Where did you get the average maintenance cost from? I'm thinking it should be less than $25/month. That's factoring in full synthetic oil and filter, and washer fluid.

From time to time Toyota offers financing. Currently its 3% for 36 months. I'm waiting for them to offer it again in the fall when I'm ready to buy.

Why would I pay 1k a year to do maintenance if every oil change is around 100.00 every 5k miles that would be 3 oil changes per year. Makes no sense

Look, this is a rich people’s toy with a Toyota badge. Not a working truck. I am a strong believer that I shouldn’t buy a car that cost more than 1/3 of your annual income. I have been eye balling a limited, and I will pay 50% down including trade-ins, and finance with Navy FCU. I hope to get my monthly payment under $500.
