Nice review. They should have just made the bed step manual. There are times I might want to just kick it and get in the bed or grab something from the bed without opening the tailgate or going back to the cab to hit a button.

Hey Steve, my 23' Tundra has these exact running boards but my "out" switch doesn't toggle meaning I can't have the boards out all the time. I believe I used to be able to but can't now. The switch just goes back to auto

Good video. Can you manually push in the rear tailgate step if the running boards are set to "out"? Can you manually operate the tailgate step regardless what the switch is set to (push to come out and push to recede)? Thank you

Hey Steve, Any Idea when the power running boards and power bed step will be available as an accessory at Toyota Dealerships? I’ve got the ‘22 Tundra Platinum and want to add this accessory. Getting into the truck bed is not an easy feat for a 5’-10” man and using the bumper to climb into the bed is not a great option with tailgate up. It’s been almost 5 months since this truck became available, hopefully Toyota will start getting these accessories out to the dealerships. Does this option require the addition of micro-chips, since it is powered by On/OFF/Auto switch as well as doors and tailgate?
@stevenwelchtoyota2 жыл бұрын
Not sure when. On a part like that or a tonneau cover they will supply the factory first

Great video Steve! I am purchasing a 2022 Toyota Tundra limited 4 x 4 with the TRD off road package. I am adding running boards. Can my Toyota dealer add the power running boards with Toyota with original Toyota parts/materials? If they can how do they add the power on and off button in the cab? Keep posting the great videos! Thanks

Deal breaker for many, rear step should be standard on all Tundra models. Also no front tow hooks? You'll be in big trouble if you ever happen to get stuck in deep mud or snow up to the bumper. Two major issues with this Tundra..too bad it could have been a decent truck.

@@stevenwelchtoyota I have an POS F150 where the boards go in and out all the time depending on if the key is near by, this causes a lot of wear and tear on the actuators so I tend to just leave mine out...just seems like Toyota missed the mark on this by not having them as a separate function that can be tied together

I had a 2019 Ram with their version of this same design. Mine lasted less than a year before the actuators went out. I hope Toyota did a better job. In all fairness and full disclosure, the Ram I had was a total POS and a lemon from literally the second day I owned it. I lost count, but I believe the actuator issue was the 16th trip in for service in less than 12 months.

@@stevenwelchtoyota by no means comparing!! That Ram was worse than a bicycle!! Merely stating the designs look very very similar, so I'd assume a failure would be with the actuator.
