I miss the days when you could just stick a wire in the DLC and diagnose and reset your automobile.

They couldn't make money from that system, so they "fixed" it..

Awesome video, how long do you need the ignition on with the jumper connected?

Some JDM vehicles in Japan still use this system and if not on the entire vehicle, then on certain systems such as the HVAC or AIR SUS where you push some buttons on the control panel to get some information from the control unit to assist us to fix the vehicle system. This one way of several ways car makers can make money from building different versions of a vehicle for sale around the world with different parts, systems, and capbilities as variations of the same vehicle to be sold in cheaper Regions vs first world countries,. I lived in Japan and fixed cars for 20 years, cheers.

Do you have the jumper wire in five and 12 in the video. Should it be in five and 12 or four and 12?

watch the video closely because everything is explained

on many cars, 4 & 5 grounds are shorted together, on other cars they have 2 seperated grounds, one to the chassis and one to the module as a ground for sensors. Most scan tools short these 2 together internal to the tool. If a car works with a scanner plugged in but does not work without a scanner, you need to look for a ground problem from either 4 or 5 circuitry.
