Meet the new Yaris. Toyota has gone back to the model's roots and created a car that's good looking, has a great interior and has a USP compared to other superminis. The new Yaris is hybrid-only (apart from the GR Yaris, but that's a completely different car) and only comes as a five-door.

900 miles so far and averaged 68 mpg. On a 20 mile short run when I switched Od that journey was 84 mpg ! This is our 4th Yaris and this hands down the best one they have made, personalised number plate on order from the DVLA and intend to keep this car for a very very long time. 😊

Two things; You didn't take it on the motorway where many reviewers complain about excessive wind noise and tyre roar - it would have been good to hear your in report in this connection... As for mpg, dashboard read‐outs are unreliable so I wonder what the percentage inaccuracy is in this respect.

Looks like no other supermini? To me it looks like an Aygo, and not much bigger. Which could be unfortunate at £20-24k?

It looks very smart and I'm sure will be very reliable, but I just can't get that enthusiastic about the three pot engine with hybrid tech and CVT. I think when the time comes to swap my 2018 Mazda 2, I'll probably end up getting, errr, another Mazda 2.

I love the look of it, but I can't help but feel they just copied the side profile of the Mazda2... I know Toyota and Mazda have a partnership because the American Scion iA was just a Mazda2 and this looks like a bit of recycling being done to me here.
