CV Axle Grease Spraying all over on this 2012 Toyota Camry SE, many ways to repair, can replace CV axles, replace CV Boots, grease and clamps, re-clamping only normally doesn't help. Ideally keep OEM axles, they are superior to aftermarket products.

Replace the clamps and regreese by pulling boots back and wait for the CV axles to start making noise before you spend a lot of money replacing axles, just my opinion

Thanks for the video. I replaced the clutch in my 2002 Echo and due to my inexperience I tore one of the CV boots in removing the transaxles. I purchased an after market boot kit and managed to get the job done. Car Care Nut does a good video on doing a boot replacement - cleanly too. Anyway my first attempt failed and grease was coming out again after a trip so I purchased another boot kit aftermarket (AU$25 plus $40 for the banding tool to install the clips) and got them snug the second time around. Since I had recently performed the disassembly necessary to do the job it went pretty quickly - just a morning job, and I did it in my home carport without a lift, just by jacking the car up and secureing it on lift stands. I would say that its always worth inspecting the state of the trasaxle before commiting to replace the whole thing and provided the universal joint wasn't running totally dry it should be ok to put a kit on to fix the issue.

It might run like that for years until it dries up inside there. Those joints are filled with grease at the factory. There is a LOT of grease inside them. That is the oil separating out of the grease and leaking out. They sell needles on Amazon which go onto a grease gun. You can use them to inject grease into bearings and such. I would wipe that oil off and drive it until it started making funny noises. Then take some action. You can usually hear when they get really worn.

These Camrys 2013-2014.5 are bulletproof! Classic 6spd auto trans, with paddle shift, no CVT BS. Lol I miss mine , stolen at 165k miles just oil changes and brakes, every 5k, transmission service at 100k Running strong 35mpg . 410miles per tank

Thankfully, as you stated, Toyota sells a kit with two grease packs, boots, and clamps for when the boots are torn or damaged, but if you’ve been driving so long they’ve been damaged by not having any grease than you need to replace the axles. Keep a close eye on them and if they get torn or wear out you can just buy the boot kit and replace the grease and boots and be good to go! God bless~

I had busted CV boots on my 2000 Nissen pulsar, they had only just broke, so I bought a new aftermarket boots kit & cleaned the CV joints & put in new Greece & boots. Went on for years after that, and the CV axles never failed again.

Got a 2003 Avalon at 130k miles and drove it to 200k before I had to do an cv replacement. Didn't notice it until it was too late (was in college at the time - broke and no time). Took me a whole day with basic tools. But the car later 270k before it died. Used aftermarket parts from AutoZone lol

I just bought a 2005 sequoia and the CV axles need reclamping and packing with grease. The left one has old grease on the frame and the right one flung grease everywhere. This video is timely for me and appreciated!

I hope you can film either replacing one of the axles OR replacing just the grease, boot and clamps of one of them so we can see an actual repair!

Whats ridiculous too is there are a lot of driver side cv shaft vibrations from the shaft not having the dampener chunk of rubber on it for aftermarket. Rebuild with the kit. Ao many techs and ahops are ao lazy and dont want to go the labor. Their excuse is it costs the same. I want my OE part and fixed thank you very much.

If no noise or anything unusual in the test drive then boot kit is most likely all that is needed.

I'm in this exact same boat. Son's 2013 Camry SE 2.5, 170K, with leaking boots. OEM is crazy expensive and looks like might be hard to get. Comments and reviews of aftermarket have scared me away from those. If someone made a high quality aftermarket axle at a competitive price they'd make a killin". I've seen TCCN video on rebuilding these. Doesn't look fun. What to do, what to do.

I just purchased an OEM Toyota axle for my Camry. It was $500. I figured if it lasted this long, the investment into a new axle is worth it.

Mr. Peter, I have this same issue on my 2013 Lexus ES350 both CV axles. Do you have any idea why they are failing? I have also seen a video from the car care nut on doing the reboot and he says there is a special tool to clam the boots. Any thoughts on this for a DIY mechanic?

Yes the tool for the toyota kit is hard to get though you can do it with pliers. I just got a much cheaper after market kit - a boot, two stainless steel bands and grease - and did it myself with a banding tool I bought for $40. It took two kits - ie two attempts but I got it done.

I been disconnecting it and reconnecting the battery for a while now. it's really annoying. Anyone know what may be the problem? thanks
