20 year Toyota family here (We own 6 cars). The new Sequoia is a complete departure from what made us buy our current, prior generation Toyota. You swapped a simple V8 for an ultra complex, undersized engine with twin turbos that have internal wastegates which will fail, extra radiators, timing chains, hybrid system, etc. The Hybrid system is so weak you can't run on electric alone and the fuel economy gained is almost nothing, compared to the insane price increase for the vehicle. The batteries in the floor make it so the 3rd row seat can't fold flat anymore, destroying the usability of the trunk. You made one of the largest SUVs with a nearly unusable trunk compared to the last generation. You've added so much cost and complexity that we might as well buy a BMW and get better interior and performance. We just bought a Subaru Forester for 1 of our 6 cars in our first departure from Toyota in a very long time. We were going to upgrade our Sequoia, Land Cruiser or Tundra to new models but there is no way I'm going to do that. And the icing on the cake? All but 1 Toyota/Lexus dealership in Utah are all owned by 1 group that sold out 3 years ago and has become so bad you can't trust them with your vehicles. You have completely abandoned your core values and it appears the golden age of Toyota is officially over. Thankfully the Korean and German manufacturers have really stepped up their reliability, so you are no longer the only game in town. So sad.

Smaller twin turbo engine will increase MPG. Hybrid will give you torque when needed and will help you run on lower rpm on average. EV mode is not the primary benefit. If you need storage space why not go for Tundra.
@Think_Up7 күн бұрын
@@ugurgumushan We do also have a Tundra, which is a different vehicle for different purposes. Many of us need to haul things in the back of the vehicle, with the flexibility of a 3rd row, which is why we buy an oversized SUV like a Sequoia in the first place. The trunk was great in the last Sequoia, now it sucks and is among the top complaints people have. The MPG increase is negligible with many reporting 14-15mpg city and 20 highway, which isn't much better than the V8 was.

The cargo space behind the third row is atrocious Toyota. This thing needs to be a good foot longer to be competitive in this segment.

Yeah, they put the worthless hybrid system's batteries in the floor so the seats can't fold down flat anymore. It's amazing having this HUGE SUV and a trunk that is barely usable.
@icare715117 күн бұрын
Friend of mine has both an older sequoia with the V8 and a new one with the V6 twin turbo hybrid. Here in the Colorado Rocky Mountains in high altitude, the v8 gets superior fuel economy, better towing and stability performance. He drives the v8, his wife drives the new v6 twin turbo hybrid. She now wants to drive the v8 sequoia again.

@icare715117 күн бұрын
@ Not correct. Obama started the insanity in the EPA and weaponized, the EPA against American manufacturing, energy and vehicle industries. The Toyota v8 gets better emissions in our high altitudes than the twin turbo v6 hybrid which get lower fuel economy thus significantly pollutes more. Total ignorant stupidity.

Toyota you need to work on Corolla to compete against the new Kia K4 and mazda 3. There is going to be surge toward small cars, and you need to bring GR LIne or TRD Line and compete against competition. YOu need to bring younger people to Corolla with manual transmission, and performance model under the GR model that can compete with the mazda 3 in handling very similar or better than APex corolla

@Ameer_3017 күн бұрын
The quality is cheap in this vehicle the 2024 Nissan Armada feels more luxurious and has a reliable engine. Also, the Nissan has the Bose sound system, which is way better than the Sequiao I have both Armada & Sequiao before, but the Nissan is more luxurious and more quiet, especially on highways.

We woudl have loved a Sequoia. However, not being able to remove the rear seat was a game ender. If Toyota fixed the third row seat issue, we would relook.

As a second-generation Sequoia owner, I’m not interested in buying the new model due to its part-time transmission, limited cargo capacity, and cramped third-row space.

Yep, they forgot about their customers needs with a vehicle like this. Our previous gen Sequoia has so much space to haul with the 3rd row folded down. We went to test drive the new one and laughed out loud when we discovered you can't even fold the 3rd row out of the way. You fold it down and it's still in they way, completely.

Toyota you messed up big on the latest tacomas, tundra, sequoias by adding turbos and hybrid systems for the new 4 and 6 cylinder engines paired with subpar transmissions, but the worst is asking Americans to pay $50, $70K for a non full sized truck and $100K for the Sequoias, you are either insane or greedy AF believing people will pay such numbers for your cars.

Test drove a TRD Pro Sequoia, beautiful truck. The interior on the other hand was pathetic, especially at $80k. A sea of creaking plastic and wth is going on with the camo everywhere? Left me feeling like beauty of this truck is only skin deep; it’s not very good at anything. Not people hauling, not cargo hauling, not off road, not towing, not mpg… pretty pointless vs the competition.

@carfanatic1124 күн бұрын
you ruined the Sequoia, from the C pillar backwards it's just ridiculous. no flat folding seats, hump in the floor and literally no trunk with and without the seats folded. 400 watts outlet for a hybrid is just plain stupid. Trd pro has no ground clearance or decent approach and departure angles for a dedicated off-roader. lastly, the hybrid just adds complexity without getting any improvements in gas mileage. Mega fail for the sequoia
@caponecollin16 күн бұрын
Don’t worth the money 3rd row is useless limited space I think Toyota should make it bigger look what Nissan did with the patrol it blows the sequoia out of the water,so if you don’t upgrade it the sequoia is going to be a goner 😅

Toyota end the Supra and Subaru collaboration, it is time to bring you own sports cars to table and build your own factory in Japan like Acura has done. The toyota 86 and Supra should be developed by your own development in house and factory, no collaborations. Subaru and BMW should not have a right you your heritage cars. I think the Supra and 86 need to be build by Toyota in their own factory. Build a factory like Acura just for sport cars for toyota and Lexus in Japan
