What's funny is I purchased a 2022 Ford Maverick XL hybrid and someone in a Facebook Maverick group asked about it's eCVT transmission. Another commenter said it's borrowed from Toyota and posted a link to this video which brought me here. We almost bought the Toyota Cross but were looking for snall pickup with good fuel economy. It was only $19,995 back in 2022. Now it's $26,995 in 2025 (order banks just opened) and for the forst time the hybrid is available in an AWD. Mine is front wheel drive. I would have bought a hybrid Tacoma if there was such a thing, or the rumored Toyota Stout (smaller pickup than Tacoma) but Toyota hasn't come out with it yet. I will say this, I traded a 2012 Toyota Sienna for my 2022 Ford Maverick and I went from a dream machine minivan that had virtually no issues in 10 years of ownership and 133k miles to a vehicle that has had more than a dozen recalls, a 100k warranty recall on the long block engine, and 2 significant repairs that put the vehicle in the shop for over 2 months. You get what you pay for. The price was outstanding at under $20k for a hybrid truck getting about 38 mpg average over 41k miles BUT the reliability has been atrocious. I hope Toyota will come out with a fuel efficient hybrid truck.

My Chevy Coupe is over twenty years old and it’s the first vehicle I’ve owned. Last year a tornado hit it twice, even though it’s totaled I still drive it. I know it is time for me to upgrade, yet I’ve had some resistance since I’ve been accustomed to this one vehicle that has saved my life on several occasions. I’ve been researching for a year, trying to find a mid-size suv that gives me butterflies. My mother has owned two forerunners and after the tornado totaled hers, she bought a Tundra all decked out, which she loves. I’ve been looking into the RAV4 for a year, it seems to be a contender. If I go that way, it will be because it’s a hybrid. This video gave me more insight with how it works, which I like to know. Thanks for the video to help me understand the components of the vehicle that I am looking into.

Here in Australia I've been driving a Yaris Cross AWD hybrid since December 2023 and I'd never go back. This car has the best of both worlds, super efficient with fuel (3.2 to 3.3 L/100k in summer and 3.5 to 3.7 L/100k in mid winter) and reducing my fuel use/emissions by around two thirds. I can take it on any road including some pretty sketchy, muddy roads on farms (switching to "trail" mode) where I sometimes go when running bird watching tours and it gets me and my clients there in safety and comfort. In a Toyota, I also enjoy the confidence that I'm driving a super reliable car that will last me for many years and the support of an amazing service team. I can't believe that anyone would look past one of the Toyota hybrid range when looking for a new car.

2021 Sienna Hybrid LE, here. I got 102k miles, so far. All I have done for service is: oil change, every 10k. Tire change at 55,000 miles. I got mine second tires at Walmart, after replacing original tires. The second tires are rated at 65k warranty. I put over 45k miles on them. They are soft and quiet. Still a lot of tread left. Great for snow and ice! I still get 35.6 mpg. Tire brand and size: Goodyear Reliant All Season. Size: 235/65R17 (104V All Season). And, transmission flush, on 100k. Oh, and air filter replacements. Original brakes have not been replaced. There good still after 102k miles. And that’s it. Low maintenance vehicle! Your welcome! I’ve camped in it full time for weeks at a time - running with climate control (AC). I’ve had no breakdowns. Nothing. I’d buy another one, brand new, if it was totaled from an auto accident. Or, if I had won lottery I would buy one for each close person I knew!

We have a 2024 Prius Prime, our third Prius but first Prime. Why can't we drive it in Hybrid Mode when the Traction Battery is charged (or, partly charged). No matter what I've tried, the gas engine will not engage until the main battery is exhausted. In EV Mode, we have been getting 90+Km on a charge. Yesterday I drove 45.6Km and the Trip Computer indicated a remaining range of 56Km. I'm sure the car would have reached 100Km on battery.

The better question here is: Why do you want to use more gas?
@TomLawlor-iq6gm3 күн бұрын
@@themonsterunderyourbed9408 Well, we don't want to burn more fuel. Now that winter is here our EV range has dropped substantially. Down by over 30% compared to summer. It just seems that running in hybrid mode (with a high level SOC), makes a lot of sense. We've only purchased around five tanks after 14,500km traveled. Today, at -5c, in hybrid mode, the car reported 1.2l/100km. That's amazing really. Our weather so far this winter has been nuts. Yesterday, it was 11c, when I asked the car for fuel consumption while driving home the vehicle told us we were burning 1.1l/100km ! After driving all summer without the engine having started the gas in the tank was getting old so it was time to use it. Besides, come March we have to take the car for it's first oil change (the car will be a year old then), I'll feel a bit sheepish changing oil that is nowhere close to needing to be changed. Gas here is currently at $6.37 a gallon BTW.

A recent study by US insurer, AutoinsuranceEZ found that hybrid cars had the worst fire record, while EVs were the least likely type of car to catch fire. Hybrid cars had 3474.5 fires per 100,000 sale; petrol cars had 1,529.9 fires per 100,000 sales and EVs had just 25.1 fires per 100,000 sales.
