Theres a retired Martin Lockheed engineer who attends scottsdale cars and coffee, has a newer tacoma, with a 5.0L v8 from the GSF swapped in, custom made his own carbon fiber fenders, bumper, hood, etc. This reminded me of that! Very cool guys! Ill swing by in a little and check you guys out here at SEMA in a bit!

My current X-Runner needs to be replaced and I've held off ordering a new Tacoma the past couple of years because I'd have to get 4WD, which I have zero use for, and a short bed -- boo! -- all because I wanted a V6 and manual transmission.

Yep, I agree a bit. They've gotten a bit lost? Look at a 2005 TRD Sport Access Cab in speedway blue and that's what it is. Save the overall look of the TRD Off-Road for it alone and don't just color-code to be a "TRD Sport".

Toyota will never put it in production; they are too much of a wimp to do it. But if they did , it literally has everything i would want to do to my truck aftermarket or if i had access to the toyota parts bin all the way down to the air bags in the rear. If toyota will put their money where their mouth is, so will I. I already have financing ready for a brand new xrunner.

My Uncle was an immigrant from S. Korea and didn’t have much to his name. Around 1979 or 1980, Toyota gave him a chance. He was able to get a job working for Toyota spraying undercoatings and later worked as a stevedore. He was able to provide for his family, put his kids through college, working for around 40 years with Toyota and of course, converting all of his relatives to loyal Toyota customers over the decades. My Tacoma was smashed by a careless driver a few months ago. My Tacoma was supercharged and essentially my 4wd version of the X-Runner (actually S-Runner) with many good memories. If this truck comes to market, I plan on buying it. My Uncle passed away a few years ago, but I still remember talking to him about various Toyota vehicles over the years. But one of my first questions to him I will always remember him answering (English wasn’t his strong point) since we had been domestic car buyers before. Q.Why Toyota? R.“Toyota, good” .

This looks like a very real option. Hopefully it’s not 60K if you do it. And it needs to look good. By the way, don’t waste your time on EVs. That’s a dead end unless your new battery technology doubles range and significantly shortens charge times.

Dear Toyota, i own a 2001 ford lightning. No one has made a sport muscle truck in the market. If you make this tacoma, not just a concept, I'm sure people like me would buy it. Especially if you add a towing hitch on it. Hopefully it retains the 4wd and more power wouldn't hurt. I also got a lexus rx500h. It suprised me with what it had but honestly if it's a true sport truck version it NEEDS the power. 400-500hp would be expected in this market. Only issue are the standards for bringing it to market. So plz do what you can. I've given up on ford lol.

Make it, make it "affordable" too since you don't need a crazy overpriced suspension and stuff, so $50k with nice cool one off flash paint so it's a canvas for people to mod.. Make it almost Supra fast. Don't put those fat TRD pro seats in it though. Cool, but take up too much space. I'd like it for the street, and dress it up like a stadium truck or 80s/90s mini-truck.
