No need to replace those old parts. It's perfect as it is. You've repaired it. And it shows its age. Perfectly wabi-sabi for what it is. I can see Tomax taking the canvas cover off that in the back of his garage. "Haven't taken this out in the hills, crikey, in ages!"

Love the fixes these breaks are very common with the ferret. This was the first vehicle I started to army build. 13 later and I have a fleet of ferrets lol.

With the way that you fix your toys, no replacement parts are needed. They look absolutely fantastic. I'm fixing a Motu Bashasaurus now. Two pegs broke where you connect the head. Let's see what I come with to fix it nicely. Thank you for another great vlog Dave. ❤💞🙏🏼

What a happy camper I was when Toy Poloi did his first G.I.Joe/Action Force video. Prior I would use some tips from him with other lines he had shown with my Joes. So glad he caught the ARAH bug to add to the list.

That's an excellent repair, very sturdy looking! I've got a couple of glue suggestions for you to have a look at, if you're interested. The first is "Loctite Super Glue All Plastics" - now this is an adhesive that will work (it comes with a special activator pen) with Polypropylene and Polyethylene - the two rubbery plastics that nothing ever sticks to, but it works very well. It's still a mechanical bond, but it is sturdy and reliable. The other is E6000. Sticks fantastically well, but has a bit of flex to it, so it doesn't shear off easily - which comes in handy for many toy repairs. Have a look at these two, they may prove to be a useful weapon in your adhesives arsenal!

You could try getting the red color to come back in the guns by spraying the parts in black magic and putting them in red tool dip, Then leaving them to set. The black magic softens the original plastic and the dip slowly dying them.

Watching your videos I've learned a lot about why toys break. ;) A funny thing about that is it seems like toy companies never learn what are the common design faults, that or there is no system in place to correct it cheaply yet. None the less I can look at a toy now and spot where it is most likely to break and have thought up some solutions based around the nature of the repairs I've seen you do. :)

Have you thought about dipping the faded red parts in RiT Dyemore (fabric dye for synthetics) red to see if that might refresh them?

I was thinking about those sun faded pieces too, but . . . Is there a paint thin enough that the detail would still look good? Or how about a wash? Red wash? Brown wash to simulate mud? Does a plastic die exist?
@GhostWolf141
@GhostWolf141 3 жыл бұрын
The red faded parts.. is it possible to dye them. Similar to how you tried with the blue Star Wars figure?? Or would it be difficult with the type of plastic used?
@wesmadebuilds681

Would the “pink” bits on the bike accept a Rit dye. I have had pretty good success in dyeing plastic parts in the past. Might be worth a try.

Would running the red parts quickly through a lighter flame bring back the color? I've seen videos of stadium seats being torched and the color comes back. Can that work on a smaller scale. I know it works for stress marks on plastic, but never tried it on larger pieces.
@Dustin2112
@Dustin2112 3 жыл бұрын
Flame will work but its tricky. Get a selectable temperature HEAT GUN. You can achieve the same result as the flame but you are able to sneak up on it. Also, Rit Dye for Synthetic fabric does wonderfully. You have to boil it and can dip the plastic parts in until it reaches the color you need.

Hi Dave! Have you ever used the baking soda trick with super glue? I've used it for various small jobs around the house and it really is amazing how much strength it adds to straight super glue. I've not tried it on the rubbery type plastic of the ATV's engine block, so I'm not sure if it would work in this instance. Just throwing out a suggestion that you may want to try and tinker with in the future. Cheers!

very nice fixes. my only gripe is I was hoping it might have had a busted rear axle that you where going to fix as it seems a common issue with the ATV at least 2 of my 2nd hand ones have that issue .

Drill a hole in each side of the break and insert a piece of paper clip for strength. Then glue back together.

Fantastic restoration. I like that every TP video is a little different; this one focuses on a broken internal structure of a toy (as opposed to working on restoring more "visible" parts), which is great! I wonder if some of the tricks you tried with re-colouring/dyeing Max Rebo would work on those faded red parts? Or if there are other methods you've discovered for restoring colour to plastics?
@toypolloi
@toypolloi 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I try to do and show different things in each project. Although sometimes the same fix works across different toy lines. I'm not sure if dying that plastic will work. It's fairly soft, softer than max rebo. So it may not like getting that hot.
