Milliput has helped me with a lot of fixes and jobs around the home. It is great stuff and always surprises me that more handymen and builders don't use it. my Mother got a handyman to pit some cupboards on the kitchen wall. As he put the doors on, I could hear the drill screaming as he forced the self tapping screws into the door hinges. He basically drilled the wood out of the holes. Screw had nothing to keep it in. Doors fell off same day when opened. He was called back in. Meanwhile I put Milliput into the holes. Screwed the hinges back to the door and filled the holes in the cupboard with it. Closed them gaffed them in place and next day when he came back they had held in place. Mother passed away 9 years ago and this was well before that. They are still in place and as strong as ever. Everyone should get some. Great bit of sculpting and painting match.

I've been making some custom figures recently (I made a Rick Deckard from "Blade Runner" and a 3.75" vintage-style He-Man, etc.) and I've found that Milliput is just fantastic in every way. From its adhesiveness to its sculptability to its drying for paint, it's just a wonderful product. The only thing I'd recommend for anyone using it is to consistently wash you hands while sculpting, as it tends to rub off on your fingers, which makes smoothing surfaces a bit difficult. But just keep the fingers clean during the process and dip them in water a bit and it helps.

Very nice work with the tail, David. I was worried Milliput may not grab well enough to the paperclip wire so I would suggest, as I've seen other sculptors use, anodized aluminum wire wound up with floral wire, using superglue to fix one to the other, but it looks like what you did would work just as fine as it's there just to help shape that curve.

how does warming old plastic effect longevity? might it make it more brittle or do you suppose it rejuvenates it (or no effect or too many variables to say?) when we put He-bands in the legs, it's what we almost have to do. also: 🤔why flatten the belt (saddle strap)? it's the shape of the rest of the toy --the shape it needs to be. I mean it didn't take much time or effort obviously but... meeh🤷

Have you considered using Blue Stuff to make a mold and filling it in with Green Stuff when you have a fully functional model to use as a master? (I've remolded a foot for one of my MotUs whose front part had snapped off and using wires to pin it in place worked very well.)
@toypolloi3 жыл бұрын
I have done that for other projects. But for this I wanted to show people who only have the one battle cat what is possible. Most people won't have a second battle cat to make moulds from.

@@toypolloi That's a fair point! (Didn't think of it.) Besides, you have some serious sculpting skills and your color game is on top. Is the silver miliput finer than the regular magenta-boxed one?
