Beautiful work and it sounds great! If it was me I'd throw a 2nd hose clamp on that lower hose due to no chamfer for insurance.

Thank you! I wish the tube was painless to remove - I would weld a little bead around the end - 2nd clamp is a good idea too!

That thing sound great! I know a guy here in KY that has a collection of Fiero's. He used to come in the shop before I retired. The 3.8 is a great motor but a devil to work on. My Buick Ultra SC has a leaking intake gasket I'm working on. What a mess this thing is. Great compression but honey oil and sludge in this "owned by a little ole lady who never changed the oil". Thanks for the incite.

To the brake booster up front via a long tube underneath - makes the power brakes work.

As always, love your videos. Very straightforward and easy to understand. I would like to ask a question about fuel rails.. stock versus these made aftermarket ones... Why one or the other? I don't plan on drag racing because I mostly won't a great cruising car with an occasional show of power. Thank you for sharing your videos with our community and your knowledge.
@Toys4Life2 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the feedback sir! Stock rails can flow plenty of fuel to handle a lot of power - but they don't look great - some look terrible. IMO - most people that upgrade their fuel rails do it for the looks. Once you get into crazy HP levels, some engine rails might become a restriction - but my setup is plenty good on the stock rail.

I’m going to look at a 3800 SC swapped Fiero for sale locally. What should I look for mechanically and structurally? Any known issues with the Fiero platform in general?
@Toys4Life3 ай бұрын
These are old cars, look carefully at all the rear structure for rust. The front doesn't seem to rust nearly as bad.

Looks and sounds amazing! I have a couple questions I hope you can help me with and they relate to your corvette and the A&A supercharger. 1) is there much boost put through the engine while just cruising around? 2) Does the boost a pump always work or only kick on when it’s needed? 3) have you ever heard of the boost a pumps failing? I would think if so you would blow the engine especially if it happened while you were hard on the throttle? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am seriously considering one for my c6.
@Toys4Life2 жыл бұрын
Unless you're at wide open throttle, there's a valve that's open that just bleeds off any boost so that the compressor spins freely with very little parasitic draw. The booster pump only kicks on once you get into it triggered by a drop in vacuum and increases the voltage only when you're into it to make sure the pump can keep up.. as far as I know the kennebel booster pump has a very good reputation, mine has been just fine. As a precaution I always scan my engine with the aeroforce scan gauge, I did a video on it and it can be set up to flash a red light anytime your engine experience is knock which means you should get out of the throttle. So far mine's been extremely reliable and the tune has been stable.

Curious as to your thoughts about a 3800sc in a manual fiero? I LOVE manual cars and don't think I'd enjoy an automatic near as much. I have a 5 speed getrag and have looked into a few alternatives/upgraded manual transmissions to pair with the 3800sc but wanted to get your opinions.
@Toys4Life2 жыл бұрын
I would only do a 5 speed getrag for road racing with a 3800 NA engine. Otherwise I don't think it would be durable enough. Just my honest opinion.

@@Toys4Life when you say "road racing" what do you mean?

@@ColtenHood Basically I mean not drag racing - the launches are too hard and will reveal the weak link quickly. Spirited street driving and NO clutch dumps.

Hey man been seeing your videos for a while, I have an 87 fiero SE and I’ve been wanting to drop the stock 2.8 to a 3.8 supercharged off a Grand Prix and looking for the engine is no problem but what are the essentials I would need to install the 3.8 into my fiero?
@Toys4Life2 жыл бұрын
Engine, transmission, computer and harness from the donor car. I have a series of Fiero vids on my channel that will give you more info as well. Also - pennocks fieroforum- search the archives TONS of info on this swap!

Is it simpler to swap a small block Chevy or a 3800?

That's a good question, I've never done a small block Chevy into a fiero - so I can't say for sure.
@billy36502 жыл бұрын
Nice, I miss my Fiero. What kind of gas mileage do you get ?
@Toys4Life2 жыл бұрын
If gas goes much higher, I may just find out! For now - keep in mind it is on E85 - so that is 30% less mpg, but also 30% +/- less $$. Also, most of my trips are short and I screw around a LOT (ie lots of 0-?? mph blasts). On the freeway with pump gas and a larger pulley (less boost) probably around 26 mpg or so. Engine is barely off idle to go 65mph..

I really enjoy your videos. A lot of great info. I’ve had 3 fieros. I’m working on my first 3800 supercharged swap. One thing I’m considering is using a turbo for compound boosting before the supercharger. There is a lot of good info out there and the house power numbers to be had are hard to ignore. Especially when you run e85. Just curious, did ever consider adding a turbo to your application? Thanks, keep up the great content!
@Toys4Life2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I have but there does not seem to be a readily available transmission that will reliably handle even a medium turbo 3800 build any more. The supply of the key hard parts (chain in particular) for the 4t65e-hd transmission has made it so that IMO a max effort 3800 SC is about all the transmission can handle with current available parts. Shame because I would love to do a 500 RWHP turbo build...
