I just bought the same device from eBay. I tried with a Smarty SIM which gives me 30gb for £10 and this only gave me disappointing speeds of 1.5mb and nothing like the 20mb+ you're getting. Did you use a data only SIM? Will that make a difference to your speed? I was trying the cheapest one I could find which was unlimited phone and 39gb data for £10.

So I bought this, (rather expensive) but I thought it would give my iPhone a break when I’m on data. My smart sim speedtest with it is only at 4-6mbps and very intermittent. If I use my iPhone, the same SIM speedtest is at 24mbps. So I don’t recommend this

Yes you can. If it runs out of battery then you charge it and try to turn the wifi on it will take a few tries before it can be switched on
