People saying the clone button doesn't work, it does. Best way to do it is pair and clone it all in the same room. Plug the adaptor into the wall and ethernet cable into the modem, then plug the reciever into a plug close to it, pair as stated in the video, wait till that is done then clone by pressing the wps button on your router followed by the clone button on the reciever. Worked for me straight away after trying to do it unsuccessfully in a different room. Once all connected then move the reciever to the desired room.

I bought TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT recently and it works flawlessly so far. I have plugged it "upside down" in power socket so as not to block the lower socket. Also, the two devices are not in the same power circuit, but still work okay. The speed varies but is fairly high (around 270 Mbps) - you can check it in the TP PLC utility that contains the network topography with settings and parameters. Perhaps the device has changed hardware/firmware-wise within the 5 years since this video was published.

aight found this in the loft, turns out it's still perfectly useable, i can't speak for potentially excessive power usage from old protocols or whatever but if you're not too worried about that then this works fine, just do as the comments mention, no extension leads, same power network, if you're worried about power network jsut try it and do speed tests before and after connection, you'll know pretty easily. also worth mentioning i didn't find it to make much of a difference with 5GBPS, but if you're having connection issues in the first place you'd be on 2.4

Awesome product. I set mine up in my garden office which is around 20 meters away from the main router in the lounge in my house. I tried and tested many ways to set up this device, It works best when you plug the small tp link adapter in a mains wall outlet. I plugged the bigger device (wi fi booster) into an extension power strip in my office. It worked but I had much reduced speed, I then switched it over to a wall mains outlet and I was getting almost maximum speeds. I have sky fibre broadband with a maximum speed of 39mb. I was averaging speeds of 29 to 33mb on the speed test website and that was using WiFi on my macbook pro. When I switched over to an ethernet cable I was getting 34mb to 35mb. A good tip is, don't plug any of the tp link devices into a surge protector strip as it hinders its performance.

Some things worth noting about this device, before you tear your hair out: GFI affects it, as does polarity (in English, whether you have it plugged in upside down or not). If your wiring is noisy that will also be a problem. Also, everywhere you plan to use the powerline adapter is supposed be in the same power circuit...which kind of eliminated the whole point for me. I tested this in two different houses...one a total fail, and the other only worked intermittently. I'm noticing this gets rave reviews from everybody in England. I'm wondering if there's something about British wiring that makes this work better.

These instructions are not how I done mine and it works perfectly. *Here's how I done mine (for anyone still struggling):* 1 - Plug BOTH adaptors into the same socket if possible. Otherwise, use an extension cable and plug them on the same strip. 2 - Plug the ethernet cable into the smaller box (not the extender) and turn on the extension cable with the two adaptors. 3 - Wait until the light with the wifi/wave icon turns green. At this point, the little house icon light should be off as they are not yet paired. 4 - Press the pair button on the adaptor with the ethernet cable plugged in from your router. This should now make the power light flash. 5 - Now press the pair button on the extender, which should also make the power light flash. 6 - After the initial flashing from both adaptors, the power lights should stop flashing and go solid green. *You should also now see the home icon light too.* Now you can unplug everything from the extension cable (including the router if you done so) and put the extender anywhere in the house. Some may argue and say you have to be on the same circuit, but I have tried placing it all over and had not problem.

No its not likely. There are a lot of factors that go into the internet speeds that are seen on wireless clients. The AP, which a wireless powerline adapter can be described as is just one part of that. Other factors include the environment, the distance from the AP, barriers like walls and even people, and the capabilities of the wireless device's network adapter.. You then have to look at the link rate. This is the rate the client is connected to the AP, and how fast it communicates over the internal network. Internet speeds are typically 50-80% of this link rate. Though with Wifi 7 clients, higher internet speeds wirelessly are more likely.

How can i pair wifi ? It has all been explained perfectly but my rooter does not have a WPS button.

The wireless adapter has a default SSID you can connect to. Once you are use the tpPLC app to configure the wireless of the PLC to match that of your home router.

how to clone wifi? i had pressed the WLAN/WPS button before pressing wifi cloning button on the extender, but it seemed not to work
@slushercj5 жыл бұрын
I thought it wasn't working for me either. Apparently, I hadn't held down the WPS button on my router long enough (~3 seconds), but when I did, the WPS button started blinking on my router as in "ready to pair". From there, then pushing the wifi button on the extender for ~3 seconds as well, the extender cloned successfully (the TP-link SSID disappeared) and I now can seamlessly move from one room to another without switching access points.

Maybe your router has a "Pair" button instead. The Pair button is a combined button for DECT handsets and WPS. Hold it down for 5 seconds the light on the button will flash white and it will start the pairing for both WPS and DECT it will stop as soon as either pairing is successful.

If you want to have a faster internet/transmission rate between the adapters, you need to pair your adapter with your modem via WPS button, in order to clone the WiFi name + the password. It works 10x faster since I have done that.

the small adapter has no power for me no matter where i plug it in. Straight out of the box and its already broken. Garbage.

So you know the WiFi on Powerline is not seamless. While the SSID can be cloned its more akin to how Range Extenders with the same SSID operate. Its the same but still a separate AP. Mesh is really the only true seamless WiFi.
