Came here after watching the recent podcast with Kumail. Great job TPE for doing these podcasts. I remember facing similar issues when I was a kid. I used to study in Beaconhouse School in Lahore, and I remember in the 3rd or the 4th grade, one of our teachers entered the class and asked "Aap mein jo bhi shia hai woh kharra ho jaye". I stood up along with another shia girl, and we stood there for about an hour after which the teacher left. It's only after several years that I realized what actually happened. In KG, some girl was shouting at the top of her lungs that shias killed Muhammad SAWW. We also used to hide our smart cards and I was told by my dad to lie about my name if a stranger asks us. I would suggest TPE to bring in a shia scholar with whom Shehzad can discuss the differences between shia and sunni (just like he did a podcast with Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza). I can suggest some scholars if need be. The reason why we need this is because we can not just say that there are no differences, or the differences are minor. Shias are critical of the first three Caliphs, and there should be a discussion as to why they are. Clarity on these topics would help educate people.

@syedhussainraza1561 Could you recommend some videos lectures by scholars to watch that highlight the fundamental differences between Sunnis & Shias and their reasoning. I hail from a Sunni family but my family was not very religious at all. I became more religiously inclined later on in life and am trying to figure out for myself what makes most sense to me.

@@sidramir3211 Hey, I have two scholars for you. One is Allama Sajjad Ali Zahrai. He is very knowledgable about the Quran and Hadith. There are many podcasts of his with Ahle sunnat ulema and they are a must watch. The second scholar is a bit controversial and the reason i recommended Allama Sajjad first is because Allama Sajjad is a bit soft spoken. The second scholar is Hassan Allahyari. He would not sugarcoat the differences. He would provide references from Ahle Sunnat books and the Quran, and his debate skills are top notch. I do not know any scholar who would have more knowledge than this guy on the Sunni Shia split. He has a channel on KZbin: Hassan Allayari Urdu. I can not really recommend a single video that would capture the differences, you can go through the channel and watch the topics that you are interested in. If you have questions, you can ask live to Hassan Allahyari as well or reach out to me. Would be more than happy to help.
Kumail you have played a very important role here. Really appreciated. I wish to see people from other side with similar views to avoid conflict and talk about similarities. Also, very important thing here for everyone who may come up with questions, please attend the gatherings. you will have all the answers.

I was very alien to the concept of shia until 9th standard when we moved and our first day in the new house was all setting up the house. Our neighbors sent food in pu bags and my sister threw it in the dustbin (she is special) infront of the boy who brought it. That boy told his mother and she came and asked about my sister. Then she said mje lga k ap log kaheen shia na ho ku k Quran m likha hai k shia k gharon m bartan ni bhejna or un k ghar ka n khana. And I was dumbfounded. I thoroughly searched and didn't find anything but that is the thing people believe in and that are the things that people are feeding their children and creating a gulf between two communities that stand on same grounds.

Dude I am always in support for any community, there should be no discrimination regarding anything for that matter. But why does he sound that Hussain (RA) only belongs to Shias, “because Imam had to Suffer in Qarbala that is why may be Shias can tolerate a little more than others”. Like what? I am skeptical, and I really want to know what he is referring to? Hussain (RA) belongs to me as much as He belongs to him. Is there any sense of Superiority towards love for Hazrat Muhmmad’s family? I am only taking Kumail in perspective, I am not asking any question from Shia community in general because he is not a spokesperson of Shia community.

We are a disservice to our respective beliefs
@aliusmanbajwa64225 жыл бұрын
SMKNotSlim appreciated for this short clip but we all know that everyone isn’t behaving the same or working for peace in his/her own capacity. There are Shia religious scholars who do that (reasons can be different) in a Sunni majority country. It means they are hurting religious beliefs of a huge amount of their countrymen. Another major point is discussed in this podcast is that when “Ahmadees” were declared as non Muslims, Shia religious scholars were a part of that panel discussion and they are evenly responsible. This fire is spreading day by day and it will lead us to another level of injustice and intolerance.
