I had a lot of interest in this rifle over the last month, and rightly so. This Vudoo 22 can absolutely shoot. A significant amount of the interest was on the barrel tuner I was using. In this video I go through a review / run-down on Erik Cortina's EC Tuner V2.
We have a very exciting experiment involving barrel harmonics coming up shortly so stay tuned.
***We just received a large shipment of TPM shirts and very nice North Face embroidered TPM hats. These will be up on the website for sale shortly.
For anyone who buys a TriggerTech trigger or Proof Research barrel in the next 48 hours, I will throw in a free hat along with free shipping.

I have bought Harrells tuner/brakes for my Rem. 223 factory rifles and have found my best 5 shot groups at 5/8" have now been reduced to 3/8" @ 100 yds. with rem. cases , 23.9 gr. of CFE223 & Sierra 69gr. HPBT. This was determined by dialling all 16 levels of the the tuner/brake , 5 shots each a total of 3 times resulting in 3 nodes each set at 3/8" so I chose level 5. If you buy a Harrells you will know why I chose level 5 :) Another day fmi I altered the powder charge so the fps was 200 less and 200 more but both of these groups expanded almost 2 times but I was still at level 5. I could have reshot both powder loads 16 times to find a new level but who cares. Once you find a load and bullet weight you are happy without the tuner/brake then install it and test all available settings using the same case , powder make/load and bullet. PS: once you find a case , bullet & powder make/ weight and complete the tuner/brake 16 settings testing you cannot change a thing otherwise you are back to square one :( Another note I personally think tuner/brakes really shine when installed on factory barrels as noted with my Rem. 700 223s. Finally it should be noted that different powder weights result in different barrel harmonics which is what the tuner/brake adjust for so the only reason to make adjustments to the powder weight would be due to increased shooting distances. Longer distance more powder reduced bullet drop. If you do you are back to square one in testing. THE END !

Outstanding information. I’m anxious to test out a centerfire tuner very soon. In your testing, what sort of improvement do you typically see with the tuner? Would you say you put as much effort into the load development as you would for a rifle that would not be wearing a tuner? The reason I ask is I’ve recently talked to a fella who is a legitimately successful long range shooter. He told me he does load development to find the velocity he wants, loaded .020” off the lands. He does zero load development past that, and dials in all the accuracy with the tuner. Very interesting stuff. Thanks! Shawn

@@triggeredprecisionmachinellc Just got home from range where I was completing seating depth for 6 settings from lands and also found .020" gave me my best 5 shot groups @ 100 yds. I have chosen 25gr. CFE223 powder load because it gives me the least bullet drop for 200 yds. and is just under the Sierra book max. keeping me in a safe range and not maxing out case pressure to help extend their life. I have found in the past testing that setting # 2 on my Harrells tuner.brake gives me by best 5 shot groups which use to be 5/8" and now they are 3/8". From here-on-in this is the only thing I will adjust to maintain the smallest groups possible even if I start shooting at longer distances. One thing viewers must understand that once you have dialed this all in for their best 5 shot groups they can't change anything as it will upset the results and force you back to square one. :( Even Eric Cortina has said that once he finds a powder load and bullet he is happy with he just sticks with it and adjust his tuner only.

An excellent video. I have an EC V2 tuner on my Bergara B14r. Over five matches with SK Pistol Match Special I dropped 14 points or an average of 2.8 points per 500 point match. After testing and selecting the best setting, I've shot two matches and dropped only one point of a possible 1000. The tuner has made a difference.

The nice thing is the "tune" has held steady on my Vudoo for over around a year now, over two different lots of ammo. I went to re-tune when I switched lots and low and behold, the tune was the exact same. Amazing stuff.

100% I have the same one and I have the break tunes also And as a reloader it works. Especially for when you find that right load and you fine tune it just a bit more

I have a couple boxes of Eley black box match that I shot last weekend. That stuff is pretty amazing, but at $18 a box I’d go broke with how much rimfire I shoot. Have you messed around with any of the mid-range Lapua or Eley ammo? I’ve heard people have good luck with that stuff.

Fair assessment. I had an issue (1-1.5”) and had about given up on a rifle. Load D, various factory, nothing worked. I wondered if the smith’s equipment was off. Shoots fantastic now (to me). .25 to under .5 depending on fouling. For my PRS purpose that’s great for me.

Great video, would this work in production barrels the same as custom in your opinion. My Savage 110 tactical in 6.prc shoots. 75" groups with handloads and was considering trying to get down to. 50 with a tuner or continue to save for a custom barrel. I'm not competing except with myself to get very best accuracy I can. Thanks again for video and channel

How much did it improve your groups over a bare muzzel? Great video
@triggeredprecisionmachinellc
@triggeredprecisionmachinellc Жыл бұрын
Good question, I didn’t talk about that but that is an important point. This rifle with this exact ammo would product groups around 1” at 100 yards with variance between .75” and 1.25”. Now with the tuner I’ve noticed much better consistency in my group sized which range from .577” ( smallest 5-shot group at 100 since using the tuner) to .800”. I’d say conservatively it have me a 25% improvement over a bare muzzle.

Great video. Really like your content and appreciate your sharing knowledge. Check out Johnny’s Reloading Bench channel. He did a multi part dive into tuners including just throwing weight on the end of a barrel. I think that we still don’t have a really good handle on how accuracy works tbh. So many variables.
