Spad could have been because signal went back on you , signal fault , signalling error or someone else passed a signal

Just remembered a question now! Towards the end there’s the demonstration of “increasing severity” (e.g. failing to cancel an AWS warning then overspeeding/SPADding), what happens in the other direction (e.g. a SPAD then an uncancelled AWS or overspeed)? Now I’m curious 🤓

Once the spad alert has happened the others are just ignored.

Interesting. Why the 60 sec wait? To cool down the brakes? Is TWPS already in use now ( july 2016)?
@electricitymachine64018 жыл бұрын
The original TPWS was in use since around the 90s with British Rail and Railtrack. This is a just more advanced system with the same track interface.

60 second wait means that you can't just cancel and continue. It ensures that the train comes to a complete halt.

An AWS fail to cancel, please could someone help explain… Does this mean the driver has failed to cancel the aws or that the aws button fails to work?
@barblx_t78922 жыл бұрын
It means both of them, but it's unlikely the AWS button will fail unless maintenance do a shocking job on the train.
@BigKelvPark2 жыл бұрын
The driver always claims the latter. I've had to test the system too many times and the OTMR usually shows the former.

@@BigKelvPark You're right most of the time but an OTDR only shows what the channels have recorded so chances are, if the button is sticky the channel will show the button as not being pressed even if it actually was. Well this is my excuse anyhow......

@@driverproffitt896 On older AWS systems the AWS is cancelled on release of button , many drivers held button down on approach to cautionary signal then release when horn sounds
