It's funny how trends and styles come and go. I remember when short drums were the new thing like zay 808 short spinz etc. and everyone was teaching you to shorten all your drum sounds haha😂

I really second that master part. A lot of people put tons of effects for mixing and mastering when i keep saying it's too simple. You don't need "ott, eq, compress then ott again then saturation then etc". Use those ears. 👍🏾

Should leveling not be done before putting master fx on? Also if i level with the pink noise i get a really silent mix that wont work for soft clipper? Good but confusing tips. Also the Limiter does nothing on the master channel when using the tips you gave? I don't hear any difference
@darkcharmrecords4 сағат бұрын
Yes.. all sounds -12db before going into your fx chain.. add your effects and make sure each sound stays at -12db going into and coming out of every plugin then use the mixer fader to level your tracks
@mirazi3605 күн бұрын
My friend, how do you choose the right sounds so quickly?
@meez56305 күн бұрын
man this vid is as always dropping some insane gems. When you make a beat like this with effects on the master, melody buses, drum buses... How do you send your stems to artists? Do you only send the buses, or each individual track without bus? And when the artist asks you for the stems, do you send them with the master effects turned on? even if it'll not sounds the same? Thanks a lot it's all so blurry to me
@TRIFREEZE5 күн бұрын
Hey man great question so generally I send all stems (including the buses) to the engineer, even with master effects on. The only thing you need to do is make sure that nothing is peaking higher than -6db, so if you have a limiter on the master, you’d remove that, and leave everything else (such as master EQs since those don’t generally affect levels like a limiter do)
@ikirusha4 күн бұрын
Ok ok but how did your mix affect the phase correlation in this beat and what dynamic range does this track have on average + loudness and TP

had a question... I know we can't ever replicate the work that an audio engineer can accomplish as producers (especially ones who only mix and don't produce). Besides vocal mixing, just the instruments, is the main thing in a professional sounding mix the sound selection first, then leveling, then arrangement of the song, general EQ, compression, saturation, etc, and not worrying about the master chain since its more so the arrangement and sounds you pick overall? Since you've worked with top producers, just wondering if you've been able to get close to an audio engineers quality and how you know when a songs worth "turning into a finished track"?
@TRIFREEZE5 күн бұрын
So it’s 100% okay to do some mastering on your beats, especially if you’re doing some advanced style drill beats or very niche sub genres like trap metal The only thing about this is you must be okay with the fact that the engineer will likely redo all of your work This is why most producers don’t do much on the master channel-it would get scrapped anyway in the final process (if it’s a stem mix) Personally I enjoy fully mastering my best beats so I would never discourage it. Do whatever it takes to make the product sound the best so that it will sell!! This is when I break out dual limiters and take a more song style approach to mastering. I’ll do a video on this soon too Good luck man hope this helped
@ikirusha4 күн бұрын
Question why would someone raise the ceil only to 6db + or lower it to below 0 DB ? I see people using different techniques when it comes to this FL limiter
@TRIFREEZE2 күн бұрын
The green line that represents the ceiling limits the signal to whatever it’s set to, and it ALSO activates the attack, sustain, and release controls on fruity limiter. It’s used for exactly what it sounds like-stopping the peaks of your track from going over +6db or -6db for example. Now, if you keep the ceiling at its default value and turn these attack sustain and release knobs off, you’ll get a sound similar to the fruity soft clipper. Problem is it isn’t as smooth. This is why I turn the ceiling all the way up-it BYPASSES this sort of subpar processing all together. The issue with this is now it’s clipping the master (unless you lower your master gain) since there’s nothing stopping the signal. This is why you activate the saturation knob-it creates a red line that cuts the heads off your 808s and kicks in a much more satisfying way (and adds nice saturation at the same time). I find it even better than fruity soft clipper Hope this helped man

can anyone answer this for me, i know little to nothing about music theory. So he has his melody and bassline in different KEYS, how the hell does that work?? is the ones hes picking (gm, cm, fm etc) all in the same scale?

Hey bro so basically it’s because the stems are labeled with a certain key, but I just didn’t show myself re pitching them 🖤
