Top quality cars! At 1:31 only one of the rear lights works (or doesn't work), and this is on the factory floor for God's sake. When I was a kid we had a Wartburg, i still remember the clouds of smoke from the 2-stroke engine and having to abandon more than one picnic trip because the car broke down.

2:00 reminds me of the Top Gear Albania scene when Jeremy's Bentley broke down on that steep hill. "While the mechanic repairs the engine, the Orangutan mends the door." --> Clarkson slamming the door multiple times to make it fit.

This is actually remarkable seeing all the action, back in my country they've just said they've checked and done everything while in reality they've didn't even see the car 😅.

Elon Musk should hire these guys to improve Tesla build quality. Perhaps also make a mullet and/or a mustache mandatory.

To think these cars were still practically put together by hand, with this much tinkering to get panels to fit and what not, just shows how outdated the 601 really became by 1990-91.

That's why I don't like the USSR. In them, even in the official instructions for the motorcycle (a post-war copy of the German one), it was written how to correct factory defects (it was assumed that the motorcyclist had access to a hydraulic press and a lathe, and the purchase of spare parts was not expected at all). That is, the level of defects was so high that it was included in the official document - this is what the Soviet quality mark actually meant.

It's great fun to drive a Trabant. I do recommend. You can't call yourself a man if you didn't drive any of those ;)
