The wife in this song mistakenly thought a better, more important and exciting life was “out there waiting for her”, not knowing that a loving, true his marriage vows, hardworking husband was her “life there already”. But thankfully the wife in this song realized the truth. The lights kept on was the husband’s way of letting his wife know that he loved her, bad choices and all, she was STILL loved and that he believed in her.

I took it, like others, that she went off to find herself kinda like that "Austin" song by Blake Shelton (also really freaking good you gotta listen to it) and he hoped she would come back. The video shows it more like she went to find herself/chase a career or dream and she felt it was something she had to do thus the breakup. He hoped she would come back, and didn't see it as over just in case she decided like in the video to come back to him which thankfully she did for all our hearts lol

I remeber i once saw Trace in an interview where he talked about how, udring filming of the music video, they got visited by police because airplanes were getting confused by the lights. They thought a second airport has been opened a ways off, that's how bright it was.

Maybe it’s the run way lights he put down were for her. She already was the most beautiful model to him. Heart face and soul. She wanted to be a model for the world, but he appreciated her that much to make her a model runway to show her she’s free to do that, but if she realizes it’s not what she thought …to his beautiful model there is still that runway straight to his heart.

She went out to have a 'Career'... I can relate.
@cra04224 жыл бұрын
My interpretation of the video is this: she left to pursue a dream (i.e. a modelling career) but the dream didn't turn out like she thought it would and she wound up being miserable before deciding to go back to where she was actually happy but didn't realize it. For his part, when he said that he'd leave a light on, he had EVERY single light on the entire property turned on to show how much he still loves her, and should he stop loving her he will turn the lights off. However to give us a happy ending, the reason the lights go off is because she came back to him and therefore he doesn't need to leave them on anymore.
