This song once ripped my heart out because I was living it. Fortunately that was long ago. Eventually my kids grew up and I never lost them and I've now found the love of my life. This song reminds me of how far I've come.

So, I was incarcerated back in 2003, was doing a year sentence. I was finally sent to work release after a year and it was while at work release I first heard this song and it hit me straight gut,/heart. I hadn't heard any music in a year and wasn't a huge Country fan but...BAM! I'll NEVER, EVER, forget this song and how it inspired me. When I left jail I started several businesses and helped a lot of people. Music has the ability to move people to move mountains. What's your mountain? And song that inspired you?

I raised my 3 by myself, with a 2nd "husband" who kept leaving us repeatedly. So couldn't count on him...God won't fail you. Read Psalm 68:5. "A father of the fatherless, and a judge (defender) of widows, is God in his holy habitation. I raised my children to look to God to meet their needs, & I looked to him for the provision & protection a husband is supposed to provide. Once a man leaves his wife & children, for ANY reason, God steps in. He loves us orphans & widows. (& when the man "puts you away with a bill of divorcement" you are a widow. Trust God. He won't fail you. Not ever. ❤🙏

I love this song. Its good motivation for single dads out there. Its easy to get caught up in the bullshit spewed by your ex wife. As much as she tries to make be, its not about her or the money she thinks you "owe" her. Its about your kid. Be that rock. Be the one that takes the abuse and stands strong. You have to instill the lessons your kids need, so they dont turn into shitheads like their mother. Your kids are only little for so long. Take advantage of the little time you get with them and be the rockstar, dad of the year mofo, every chance you get. They will remember when they are older. They will appreciate it more than you know.

This song is my life right now. I've lost my Father, Son and Mother all in the last three years. I'm a teacher and the job continues to get more and more demanding. Just when things seem to be on an upswing... there's the next family crisis or disaster to knock me down. I'm so tired... physically, mentally... emotionally. There's nothing left in the tank. But, as much as I want the world to stop and let me catch my breath... it's never going to stop for little ol' me. And even though they're gone... they believed and trusted in me so much... I can't let them down... I can't stop... as much as I want to. I just got to keep on trying... that's all I can do.

My high school sweetheart left me after 28 years together our son was 12 when she took him out of our house. I tried to get along with her. I try every day to be a good dad to him. My proudest moment was when he took words from my mouth and spit them back into my face. Proved to me that after all that has happened in his life he listened to me. I still try to get along with his mom but when she lies about me and to me it's hard. To all the dad's out there keep your head high and keep trying

I didn't ever turn my children against their father, I didn't even ask for child support, we didn't have money we couldn't live together, but I loved him very much. I though I couldn't have him I love him through our children and grandchildren for he is in heaven .

Sometimes, despite all of our best efforts, intentions and prayers - we screw up, we fail, we miss the mark, we disappoint and we sin. Ideally, we would be forgiven for our shortcomings and loved despite our imperfection. Unfortunately, we know that this is rarely the case. Truly, all you can you is all you can do. Love of the heart is rare - trust in God, love deeply, accept opening and you will receive the same - but not from all. Sad truth! Just keep tryin' - its all you can do sometimes.

This is the first song by him that I heard and I thot 'Wow, a baritone/bass like me." I can TOTALLY relate to this song. Been divorced 7 yrs and struggling to make ends meet.

I'm constantly trying. To those of you doing the same, please don't give up. I can't fix your issues but I can truely say that I love you and that as long as you are alive there is hope.

Why be nice and considerate when no one is like that back to you? I’m literally sobbing by myself in my car I really feel like giving up on life I’ve been crying everyday. I hope god takes this cloud off of me someday soon

I went years without a job but my wife stood by me through it all and the worse part is I have PTSD but I agree the always seems to be a mountain to climb and I hope everything works out for you. I got lucky to have someone in my corner and someday I hope you find that person like I did.

This is one of Trace's BEST songs, why so little views? That's a shame!

I love Trace's music. His is the voice of the common man or woman. He seems like the kind of guy you could sit down for a drink, a penny ante type poker game and swap stories.

I am very surprised of how people can pay so much attention to everything in your life, put you down so much, even the things you try to do good isn't enough! You slip, you fall, and get back up to keep trying, but they are right there to kick you with their words, right back down! But Im Trying!

This song IS America and shows the grit and determination we all wake up to each day as we keep on tryin'. The older you get, the harder the morning rise. Who you love is the motivation to RISE. If not for you NOW, for them, cause that's what Americans do!

Song reminds me of my youth in which I had it really hard. I have it better now so does my children. I mean they never have to experience my growing up life. My husband and I are working together not against each other.
