Update! Just in November of 2019 an arrest was made. I'm from Missouri, so I was very curious to check on this case. - A man came by to do meth with her. He injected both of them, she said her chest hurt and then she died. He took items to make it look like a robbery. He put her body on an abandoned property of his father's house under a sink for a couple years while he was in prison, he then got out and moved her body. He burned her body and crushed whatever was left. - There were two people he spoke to afterwards, who traded the camera and such for meth. They said the video in the camera was Teresa and children. Instead of showing cops they burned the tape and threw the camera in water (it was recovered). I think they should be in a bit of trouble too for not coming fully clean when they were interviewed all those years ago. When this couple was interviewed again, a couple years ago they admitted they still had the game console and four games. The police took them. They have never been able to locate any of her body. I found several news stories from Google, so if you are interested in reading about this, Google her name. Hope her children and spouse are okay!

I had a strange feeling that she had let a druggie that she knew into her house for them both to do drugs and something went wrong so it was staged as a robbery

He didn't overdose her . He used this as a cover up for him straight killing her . He didnt need to pose the house as a robbery or move her body ...knowing her autopsies would show she died by overdose if in fact r that was the cause . All he had to do was get rid of finger prints and beat ass out of there . He killed her on purpose and robbed and raped her and destroyed her body . When he was caught he told the drug story to ease the charges .

Sounds like they knew when the husband would be at work and they used a bump key. It broke but unlocked the door. She was sleeping on the couch or they made her sit there while gathering the electronics and she took off her rings to hide from them and threw under the couch.

I love your detail! I can't imagine the work that goes into this. Shorter podcasts/videos often leave me with tons of questions wishing I had more information and usually end up searching the topic looking for more details. I feel like this can be my one stop without a need to look for more answers to my questions. Thank you from me, a person with interest in unsolved crimes and missing persons cases. I'm sure the families and friends are extremely thankful as well.

I would like to know more about that broken key. Did law enforcement ever find out I'd that broken key paired with that lock? If so, I couldn't been Teresa trying to get inside the house quickly to escape danger as if she was running from something or someone. If Not, is it a possibility that the broken key could've belonged to the last resident that lived there before Teresa and her husband and that person returned to the home with sinister intentions thinking that the locks had not been changed?? Also, her wedding rings tells a story all of their very own. I too do not feel that Teresa's husband was involved in anyway in the case. I do however, hope that these two families and Teresa's husband finds the answers they so desperately seek therefore, finds closure, forgiveness and peace.

@@hotpockets3660 I believe her husband´s ex wife had something to do. It's about two girls who just graduated from high school in Springfield MO. They were going to parties and they stopped by one of the girls mothers home and then they disappeared they were going to go to Branson but decided to stay at home, no one knows what happened to these two girls and one girls mother, this happened in 1992 and there has been a lot of speculation, this would make a very good episode, I think lol. I moved to Springfield MO in 1995 and it's unreal that we can't find any trace of them. Thanks love your show...

After reading the comments and seeing the update someone posted, I still think she took the rings off and hid them under the couch so that they wouldn’t be stolen. The freak she chose to get high with probably felt like he was owed money for getting her high (that was undoubtedly not the first time they’d banged meth together) and probably started to look around for items to steal. She may have taken a moment he was out of the living room area to slide them under the couch, being something she couldn’t easily replace like a PlayStation or GameCube. It probably wasn’t enough so he took her too. Always be careful who you hang out with, especially if you’re getting intoxicated with them.

What if the calls were other hits the abductor was thinking about making that night and made the calls to see if those individuals were home or anyone was home...assuming this was robbery or something targeting specific people for a certain reason. The abductor would want to use another phone besides their own to make calls like that obviously so maybe they just took advantage of the ability to use her phone. The fact that the second call was to two older women who lived together makes this theory seem plausible BC obviously elderly women are often easier targets than someone younger or a stronger man.

The most interesting thing I heard was the two phone calls that were made from her phone. Think about it, even in 2006, you didn’t take out your phone and DIAL a number. You found the person in your contacts just like you do today. So one of two things happened and both point to an abductor undoubtedly making the calls. 1. The people that were called know more than they’ve said OR 2. The abductor dialed random phone numbers in a hope to throw off the investigation.

Back 28 years ago in the UK one of my co-workers who I knew fairly well was working night shifts as well as my self at the time, we were security guards. He and his wife were in their mid 30s and they had 2 young children a boy and a girl. He idolised his wife and according to us co-workers the couple had a happy 9 year marriage. Then at one time he was given 3 days off of work. During the day a neighbour called him over and told my co-worker she had been seeing a lot of strange men going in and out his house during the night. He said nothing and when returning to work decided to seek off and visit his home during the late hours. As he crept inside he discovered his wife having s*x with a strange guy. It transpired that his wife had been selling s*xual services at his home while he was at work. Soon he filed for divorce. My point being Teresa hiding her wedding rings could mean she didn`t want certain people to know she was married and this could be another scenario as to her fate. But I guess we`ll never really know.

I believe the criminals wanted money etc...since her kids were everything to her , she stated " take me, I'll go willingly if you leave my kids alone " this seems very plausable knowing with her knowing her husband will be home "soon". This explains the lack of ransacking. She may have expected to make it out alive , and that's why she deposited her wedding rings under the couch.

“I tried over and over”? Steven you quoted something her husband said that kind of gave me the chills if I understood you I correctly, and if the quote is accurate - you quoted the husband as saying he placed the call at eleven p.m. but Teresa didn’t answer (no voicemail on her phone? Isn’t that odd?) He said he didn’t find that unusual so he went out w/mom the next morning. Then you quoted him saying, “I tried again and again but she never answered.” Doesn’t that seem strangely inconsistent? Did he call once, think it was normal she didn’t answer (or that the phone call didn’t “go out” - I wonder why there was no voicemail however - he would have known if the call didn’t “go out” as if it did he would have reached voicemail), and then went out with mom w/out returning home or calling again? Or did he claim he kept trying “over and over” but never got an answer, including no voicemail apparently, and still went out with his mother even though a lot of time had gone by? I didn’t want to focus on him honestly but those details bother me. I was also thinking that the wedding rings under the couch -that was deliberate so someone couldn’t see them, and it was something that took a few seconds and presence of mind to do. Something tells me a frantic mother trying to protect her children from home invaders wouldn’t think to do all of that - it seems like a very deliberate message. Also, not listing more expensive items that were “stolen” if they were made up items - more expensive items would be known to more family members and they would be easier to confirm the purchase/possession of (as opposed to smaller electronics which could have been paid for with cash). The abduction aspect is unusual for home invaders - but it does happen. The part that makes no sense is that they never actually made her try to withdraw any money, which in every case I know of (even cases that ended in the murder of the abducted) the person (OR the abducters) is seen trying to acquire money.

aleister crowley I agree. There are small details like these that have always nagged at me since the day I heard about poor Teresa. I’m not certain that her husband did it or masterminded it, but it’s always bothered me that he describes trying to phone her and not knowing if she’d gone to sleep or if he just couldn’t get a call out because of bad reception. Whaaaat??? When I call someone and they’re asleep, at the very least I hear a phone ringing...even if it’s a cell phone...and then I get their voicemail (as you pointed out). When I’m in an area with low or no coverage, I *don’t* hear the normal phone call sounds. That or the bars of signal strength is my first tip-off. I can’t understand what her husband does when he calls people that he’s confused as to whether they’ve gone to bed or he has no signal. That is completely nonsensical to me.

I doubt that the motive was theft. These people were working class. more likely that she was targeted for sexual assault etc..unless it was her husband or someone else with a vendetta who wanted her dead.

If I'm home alone with my babies and say I hear someone putting a key in the door, I would assume it was someone I know. I would go to open the door to realize I was wrong. My only thought would be for my babies. Maybe that's why they both in the same room? She put them in her room to keep them safe from whoever.

It is silly to put too much emphasis on who called police first without any other evidence. Women usually panic more at first and would call quickly. I do not believe she planned her disappearance. The broken key is a sign of foul play, and one does not need to break a key off in a lock to fool people into believing she met foul play. I think the rings were taken off so her abductor(s) would not be able to find and steal them. So why was there not any sign of a struggle? I think she negotiated away her life to save the children. In other words, she went without a struggle. She may have been involved in something and I believe she knew the abductor. The phone calls are weird. Only two calls were made from her phone after the last time her husband spoke to her. Neither of the people who received a call from her phone claim to know her or her family. The first call was made to someone in the city she hails from. Normally when someone calls a number by mistake, another called is immediately made to the correct number. In this situation there were not any follow up calls. It is very possible the abductor made these calls. Even if this is true, it does not mean the people receiving these calls were in on the disappearance/home invasion. If Teresa made those calls, I suppose it is possible she misdialed in haste, and was not able to redial, but then why would she call someone in her old town and not her husband. or 911? Very odd! Maybe one or both of those calls were made under duress, and maybe she did not call 911 out of fear she would be killed for doing so. A smart perpetrator would confiscate the phone; therefore, it is likely those calls were made by the perpetrator. I find these phone calls to be the most perplexing part of the whole case. I also think these phone calls are the only real leads and more emphasis should placed on those who received these calls. They may be very close to the individuals involved in Teresa's disappearance, even if not out right involved themselves.

My thoughts on the wedding rings under the couch... I believe well being robbed she my have put them under there in attempt to have them not stolen.. which brings me to the idea of it not being very violent (like she may have thought they would just take her stuff but not hurt her ) because otherwise the rings would be the last thing on her mind .. W/ her kids there ..which also makes me think she may have known them or invited over someone she thought was ok .. but then wasn’t

Theresa locked the door behind her and broke the key on purpose to protect her kids ( ie, the kid appears couldn’t steal the key and get back in)
@jae1-03
@jae1-03 3 жыл бұрын
Most likely the key was broke to disable the lock from the outside. They sell keys just for that. Reason why? Because he’s ransacking the house and doesn’t know if someone might show up. If they do, having a lock they can’t get their key in will surely slow them down, most likely will knock and he will here it. So it’s supposed to block the keyway from the outside but does not disable the function of the lock from inside. The ring was probably her attempt to quickly hide it from the guy robbing her house. If she’s by the couch, throw it under. Also, she’s not going to try and escape because her kids are upstairs and I’m sure he used that as a leverage point.

I'm curious to know if they ever even attempted to ask the children "Where did mommy go?"... I know they were young 2 & 4yrs old but I do feel like a 4yr old could at least tell u a lil something if they witnessed anything. Whats odd to me is they don't mention anything about if they did or didn't at least try to question the 4yr old. I just can't imagine the father coming home after work and finding his 2 children alone and his wife missing and not at the very least asking the kids "Where did mommy go?" It's odd that this isn't even mentioned at all. Those kids are potentially the only eye witnesses to what went on in that house that night.. I'd be curious to know what the kids or at least the 4yr old said when they questioned him about his mom. I feel like somebody in that family had to have asked those kids something...its just weird that don't mention this at all.

🇬🇧 Ive found that those who profess to having a brilliant relationships & go on & on about it are actually covering up for a not so perfect relationship & quite a few end up divorced pretty soon after their " perfect" partnership has been Declared to everyone. Id like to know how Theresa's husbands first marriage ended? Did he have an affair with Theresa at the time of his 1st marriage? Im not casting any wrongdoing on Theresas part but if she had an affair with her husband while he was married to wife 1, maybe she was having an affair with someone else? Its just odd that her wedding rings were found under her sofa As if she was there with someone else who told her to take her rings off. Same with the porch light off, admitting someone in & not wanting anyone to see who it was? Since her husband was on night shift she'd be clear to have someone over late evening. I know this is sounding bad on Theresas character but its just my own initial feelings on the case. The red flag was the overflowing comments to all of her perfect marriage etc. As i said its like the proverb Those who overguild the lily have something to hide. The most successful & loving relationships ive come across have no need to tell all & sundry that their marriage is fantastic & they adore their partner & gush over every detail. I think the items stolen were deliberately taken to send investigations down the wrong path. The same with the 2 unknown phone calls from Theresas phone I think 2 random numbers at a late hour were made to also TRY & throw off investigators & in my estimation a pretty dumb attempt, very unprofessional & not something a burgular would do! I don't know HOW L.E. failed to see through this bungled case! The husband wanted her out of the picture & engaged some stupid bozo's to do the job ( i like to know if the husband remarried not long after Theresa 's disappearance???) There is something not quite kosher in the husbands story & i think the ex wifes harassememt is an excuse! It may once have been an issue especially if Theresa had, had an affair while her husband was still with his 1st wife. She was bound to be angry with Theresa but after Theresa having 2 kids with her hubby i doubt wife #1 was still embittered. I think the harassement was overplayed & there is something not quite innocent about the husbands role Not that he was personally involved but got someone to do it & take whatever he wanted from the home. To have CONSTANTLY tried to call his wife during the evening & onwards & get no response but yet as soon as he leaves work he choses to have breakfast with his mother??? That sounds very wrong! You cant reach your wife after multiple calls & shes looking after your 2 young children but you delay going home? Have a leisurely breakfast with your mother ??? Uh huh! Dont buy it for 1 second! Thats my 10 pennysworth Regards 🇬🇧👧

I wonder if it was customary for Theresa's spouse to call his wife at 11:00 pm and/or occasionally have breakfast with his mother? No scuffel ..perhaps she was obedient to protect her children..for sure a loving, nurturing mother does not walk out of her children's life ..not much info shared with public..perhaps one or two mentions of clues would have jogged someone's memory or conscience ..the ex wife?..I think a neglected avenue ..not physically but having sent misinformed teens to rob the home..who would be enticed by small electronics..being told noone was home ..I have a feeling about ex-wife/Dale conspiracy? ..My deepest sympathy to her beloved family ..courage..😥 ..moi canada 🇨🇦

I thought the same. It crosses my mind that the Dale and the exwife may have resumed their relationship. Perhaps Exwife's hubby filed for divorce because he knew? Maybe exwife thought if Teresa was out of the way, they could turn back the clock. Dale might have asssited her after the fact, then covered due to his involvement.

I guess I understand the suspicion about him not calling...but when we thought my son was missing, I went straight to looking, like hiking the property looking for any signs of him, and my husband did the same, then hopped in the car to drive the roads around the house. I yelled back to my brother to call 911, I was already running out the door and didn't think to grab my phone. I knew 911 needed to be called but I felt like actually searching for my baby, like feet on the ground searching asap was my job, anybody could call 911 as long as it got done. I don't think it's that suspicious...I mean if a day has gone by and no one else has called, or you don't know someone else is going to call, that's one thing. But I think the immediate response when someone you love is missing, is to go get them. Like you have to get to them, have to find them, that's all you can focus on.

I don’t know if there have been updates to this case…but how old was the stepson when she disappeared? The key thing grabs my attention, because who else MIGHT have a key but him. If he was older, teenaged, he would know about the small electronics. He would know she was there alone. She WOULD open the door to him. And if he was older, he might have blamed her for his parents not being together, especially if his mother was upset about her divorce to his stepfather. He also might have had zero empathy about leaving his two little brothers alone in the house if he didn’t like them anyways.

Like someone said already in the comments, the lack of a struggle could have been due to a threat to the children. It's terrifying, honestly, to be a mother home alone. It's possible it was the ex-wife. I could not find anything about her older stepson, how old was he? Could he have hated his stepmom because he wanted his parents together? Or, was he a drug addict and he's the one who committed the robbery? If it was the ex-wife, that could be why the rings were chucked under the couch, like it was symbolic.
