Instant red flag when he said a 24 year old man picked up a 15 year old girl to hang out with........unh Uhhhh, nope. Unlikely. Most likely he came on to her and she rebuffed him and whatever happened after that is what has caused her to be missing.

exactly. We as women have to understand when we go anywhere alone with a man that may have bad intentions for us, we should not go. You are in potential danger if he tries something and once he is in that "state of mind" he could become dangerous. Hang out with girlfriends, not alone with a guy no matter how "nice" he may seem.

Yes statistically men are fare more likely to be attacked / killed by other men than women are. Women are just at a bigger biological disadvantage than men due to lack of physical strength so they're not as able to fight back. But we all should be careful in certain situations.

I think Kevin 100% did this. He got her high, tried to make a move, she denied him, he got mad, raped and killed her. Why would a 24 year old be hanging out with 15 year olds??? Sex. That's why. The dogs alerted to his car and his property. He didn't know the x bfs house was condemned and so that's why he claimed to have dropped her off there. They need to arrest him and charge him. Too many rapists and murderers going free.

I dunno, dude. I'm pretty liberal in a lot of ways, but there's no way my legal adult self would be driving around young teenagers out of town to parties with drugs & drinking against their parent's wills, much less do pot with them & drop them off at abandoned buildings without looking back. ESPECIALLY if I was a lifelong family friend; an honorary older brother. 27 years old! That's almost 30; what's he doing partying with teenagers...? I wonder if Kayla was trying to get home like her mom said, & someone got mad at her; trying to force her to stay or driving her somewhere against her will. ...Also, I don't think immediate family or spouses/boyfriends/girlfriends should ever be considered reliable backups for alibis. Way too many people think blood is thicker than water, even if their blood is running around spilling the blood of others.

Probably an insecure 24 year old man, who could not get the attention of women his own age. There is so much growth between 15 and 24. My guess is he got jealous of her hanging out with other guys, possibly always had a crush on her or thought his longevity as a family friend earned him attention from her.

I agree, way too old. That being said, I wouldnt have a problem with the weed smoking so much as everything else. Frankly, Id rather have a child that smoked marijuana than one that habitually drank every chance they got.. but thats just me, i suppose. its the not keeping track of her factor that came into play, coupled with trust in family and friends to keep the same vigilance as if they were her parents. dont get me wrong, i dont want to sound like im putting all the blame on her mother.. I can only imagine what shes been having to go through, and has undoubtedly beat herself up over and over about 'woulda, coulda, shoulda' scenarios. Something that will follow her until her dying day, in all likelihood. these things are just complete no win situations.

Hi. I live in a very small village with only 71 people but we also mingle with people in the next village over with roughly the same amount of people. We do not hang out with children as young as this girl. We have a darts and pool club every second Thursday and there are farm hands which a few are in their 20's, late 20's. but that's it, no socializing with them outside of the club. It would be frowned upon for it to happen. @@HighLordBlazeReborn

I grew up in Antigo and it's quite a poor town with a lot of bars. 10 years ago many kids parents could not afford cellphones for their kids. In Antigo lots of parents only activities consisted of going to work at low paying jobs and sitting in bars all night trying to drown their sorrows and desperation away. When I lived there it was known to have a whole lot of creeps, crime, and lots of kids running the streets. Parents were kind of oblivious cause everyone felt small town everyone knows everyone type thing should be safe enough to leave the kids on their own, but it really was not ever safe. Lots of bad things happened and continue to happen in the small town of only like 8-10,000 people. It's always been a drug haven. Lots of pedophiles lurked around there and it was not abnormal for older men to be hanging out with kids and such. I had a lot of disturbing things happen to me growing up there which makes me feel all the more sad about what happened to Kayla. It's why I wouldn't raise my kids there.

Kevin did it, Kevin probably didn't know that Miguel moved so when he was giving police a BS location he "dropped her off" he went to Miguels old house. I'm sure Kevin had grown an infatuation with her as no 24 year old man is going to be spending their time with a 15 year old girl unless he likes her. I bet he drove her to a secluded area to try and make a move on her while she was high. She turned him down and he ended up killing her, maybe rapping her first. I bet he got rid of the body near where he was parked as I don't think after killing her he would put the body back in his jeep and risk driving around with her. I'd be curious to know the weather that night. I bet her body is in Antigo. They should have tried to get a time line from when Kayla left the McDonalds and when her friend's shift ended. Looking at google maps Antigo has many places you could "be alone".

My thoughts exactly. I was wondering throughout this whole thing, mostly because it really wasn't discussed, what kind of relationship Miguel and Kevin had, if any. Assuming they had one, an innocent Kevin would've wondered why Kayla was being dropped off at Miguel's old, abandoned house. He'd know that if he and Miguel were familiar. On the other hand, if they weren't familiar or only vaguely, yeah, he might've thought Miguel still lived there, and this guilty Kevin would've lied about dropping Kayla there, as a way to deflect suspicion onto Miguel. I wish we knew about more about the two guys and the extent of their familiarity.

@Andrew Phillips yeah, but when you've got a 15 year old girl riding around doing drugs with a 24 year old man and then she disappears into the blue out of that 24 year old man's truck you've got a pretty damn good place to start. Edit- oh yeah, and the fact that a cadaver dog hit on his car, his property, AND his place of employment. It is much more than just a guess or an assumption to look at this guy as a suspect. It is a logical conclusion based on the known facts and evidence at hand, and he is someone who definitely needs to be looked at very closely.

In my mind, this Kevin guy probably drove the two of them somewhere secluded to park and continue smoking. I would venture a guess that he more than likely made a move on Kayla to which she probably turned him down which he snapped. The rest is history and everything points to him. His laughable story about dropping her off at the wrong house the lack of cooperation, his cell phone being deactivated at the time of her disappearance, and the cadaver dog hits. There is no question in my opinion that Kevin is responsible.

I had a brother that lived in Antigo, and i remember the party scene everywhere. it was a party in a box city for young people. sit around a bonfire smoking pot. not my scene but I can see where she got caught up. Not a place i would raise my kids from what i saw while visiting my brother and his family. sad to say he later committed suicide from his massive drug use. I never found antigo as a family friendly town. only bad for my family happened there too.

This is so sad. This mom wants her daughter to spend as much time as possible with her sick father. So this naieve girl goes to dad's, tells him she's going out and he wants her to be happy. He must feel terribly guilty for being sick and unable to be the parent he probably wanted to be. In her naievity and bc she was a teen wanting to have fun she takes advantage of dad being sick and unable to really be as available as a healthy parent. I don't think she meant to be a problem, but again, under these circumstances she found it easy to do what she wanted and have fun, with no understanding of what danger she could be in. Poor girl, and poor family. So so unfortunate she did not listen to mom and did not understand the dangers of the "real world."

The emotions in having a terminally ill parent and watching them get worse and worse are more than a lot of grown children can handle... This girl was just trying to feel things, and to feel alive, get out of her hard emotional circumstances for a while. Watching a loved one die of illness can change everything about your perspective on how to approach life. I feel so sad for this whole family too. What heartbreaking, and unimaginable, tragedies.

And then the scene of the crime the farm where she could be. He just tried to throw them in a loophole not knowing Miguel had moved. Wow very good in depth analysis of this case and condolences to Kayla's family. This is just my 2 cents and my opinion of this case. I'll start by saying it's hard not to suspect Kevin had something to do with Kayla going missing based on the circumstantial evidence and statements made. I think that this may have been a sexually motivated crime gone wrong (hear me out). I read somewhere that in a large majority of adolescent rapes, the victim usually knows the rapist and that the rapist is connected to the family in some way or form. As said in this video Kevin would often take Kayla for drives around and out of town. Kevin being 24 and Kayla being 15, i find it hard to believe that he was looking for some sort of friendship or felt that he needed to be a brother figure (as she already had an older brother who she had a good relationship with). I would also attribute the choices she made to her being like most young teens wanting to explore in harmless fun. It would have been easy for any young girl to be taken advantage of in this situation, especially if she had a friendly, bubbly and optimistic (overly trusting?) personality. Kevin could have gotten high with her and tried to make a sexual advance towards her that night. It went wrong and he could have panicked and not in his sober mind killed her. The lack of blood in luminol tests could suggest strangulation. He looks like a reasonably sized adult male and she was only 5'2 so it would have been easy to over power her. I found his statement about dropping her off at a friend extremely suspicious and the fact that he dodged the question and eventually the house ended up being her ex boyfriends. Kevin could have know it was Miguel's old house quite easily having been close to Kayla. I feel he stated that was the location in an attempt to throw off the police and for them to suspect Miguel instead, but he messed up because he did not know that Miguel had moved. The fact that he mentioned that she directed him was also a mistake not knowing that she knew where Miguel's new house was. As for the sniffer dog hits on Kevin's car, it's just crazy that they cannot do anything about that due to a lack of evidence. I've read that cadaver dogs can be up to 90% accurate in detecting the presence of a recent death. It's just unfortunate that no real evidence has surfaced and unlucky on the cops part, it sounds like they tried everything they could. Sorry for the long winded response but that was just my theory. I hope her family finds her, if not gets some sort of closure and that the offender comes to justice and gets deserved sentence.

Kevin’s a 24 yr old loser hanging out with 15 yr old girls bc women his age probably want nothing to do with him. So he preyed on a younger girl who he thought liked him but was probably just using him for drugs, a ride, and alcohol. Being used enraged Kevin when his advances were reciprocal. He probably tried something she refused and he ended up killing her.

Then, he got the wrong address from someone, so he fucked that up. We knew they were in contact that night, that's more than confirmed. It also seems like Miguel DID NOT have any communication with her that day as corroborated by the cell phone records. His other phone being 40 miles away literally means nothing. People go out, why wouldn't his phone be away from his house on a Friday night?? Of course it's possible they saw each other but how did they plan it if not thru cell phone contact?

The fact that this case is still unsolved is troubling and suspicious. In some jurisdictions the brothers 24yrold friend would've been charged and convicted by now. The scent dogs that had 3 hits all tracing back to him, and the story that he dropped her off at a particular house that everyone knew wasnt occupied.A blatant lie that could've been easily exposed. Many have been convicted with far less. Why were the charges for endangering minor dismissed? A 24yrold admitting to smoking weed with a minor is a crime. Something has never smelled quite right with this one.
