Tracer EPSolar EPever 4215BN Controller Solar Station PC Monitoring Software Download and Install

It took me some time to find the software link. I will show you in the video how to download and install the software
You will need to have the cable that converts from the RS485 jack on the controller to the USB. I purchased mine here:

Eric , you maybe looking at soc when charging which is different readings than when not charging

Dear, I am using the Tracer- BN series ( Tracer 2215BN), and I am using also the Solar Station Monitor but I know to import the data saved by the controller. For that I go to LogData Download and the choose the controller type ( I supposed eTracer), Log Type ( Running Log), the starting time and the ending time and choose Inquire Log then Read Log but nothing appears. So I want to know if it is what I have to do to pick up the data. Thank you for your time, I'll be waiting for your reply. Yours sincerely.

Hello, thanks for your question. I also have the same problem. It appears that the software is written for the etracer or itracer which is made by the same company as the BN series. I am hoping that someday they will update the software to include the BN's. In the meantime I am forced to only be able to review the past few hours on the graph. You do know that you can double click the graph and it will show you a close up that you can scroll thru. To get out of the blown up version simply click the very small button at the bottom left of the graph

Nice video interesting ! One question : as victron mppt can do, can we limit the input current (Amp) in user settings via the computer ? I have a 20a Thanks if you still there:))

Still here, wasn't sure if the video was still relevant though. No you can not regulate the input amperage via the software. Pretty sure that is taken care of inside the charge controller so that it gives the maximum amperage to maintain the voltage that you have set.

Hey bud quick question, I have the 30amp version and have a 300ah bank running my mini fridge which runs a at 5 watts and spikes to 70 watts for a few minutes then back to 5 watts. Doing the math I should be able to run the fridge for 3 days with out a solar charge before I have to shut it off. The epever was showing full charge and when I woke up it was at 1 bar. I went and installed some external meters and found that my bank was a consistant 12.8 volts in the morning. I think the epever battery meter is off. Maybe the software. I went into the software and changed the 80% discharge setting to 50% in hopes it would maybe change the battery meter but its hasn't effected the battery reading at all. Have you found a solution yet? Thanks for this video. It helped me alot.

I am no expert but it sounds like two issues. If you are setting the discharge to any percentage it sounds like you are using the the SOC charge mode, I would recommend using the Volt Comp mode. The second issue sounds like over the night your battery goes below the Boost Reconnect Voltage, in this instance in the morning it will automatically go into the boost mode which is a much higher voltage.

They have a new version of the software that you can download. .I noted that it had settings for lithium but do not recall any Bluetooth settings

The soc mode allows me to set the battery discharge % to 51 vs the default setting which is 30%. From what I read, 50% is the lowest we should discharge the batteries. I'm not an expert either. Maybe I don't understand that setting. Do you think setting it to 50% is better. Thanks

You are correct to extend the life of your battery bank you shouldn't discharge it below about 70 percent. However, as I stated before I use the Voltage Compensation settings not the SOC or State Of Charge settings. You can do a quick google search and find the advantage of using the Voltage Compensation vs SOC. From what I have read the Voltage Compensation is much more accurate. In any case your setting of say 50 percent does not stop you from draining the battery below 50 percent unless you are using the load terminals on the charge controller.

Thanks. I'm gonna put it back to voc. it's a shame we can't connect the inverter to the load connection to use these auto shut off setting. Would be nice to have the controller shut the fridge off instead of ruining the battetries.

Sir, just one question: I bought the mppt tracer epsolar 4215a, I can't find what's the limit voltage/amps, I can output from the Load Terminals: Connect loads.? Do you know something?

+David Jushpe Thank you for your question, I am not too familiar with Li-ion charge parameters, but if you know them then you would simply go to the Control Parameter menu, choose Read buttton to fill in the boxes then use the drop down Current Type menu. Then you would use the User choice and simply fill in the boxes with your new parameters. Hope this helps

+David Jushpe OK here is a link but I am no Expert so please read it carefully, looks like you charge at "Li-ion with the traditional cathode materials of cobalt, nickel, manganese and aluminum typically charge to 4.20V/cell" that is per cell. The article also says that you do not use " The differences with Li-ion lie in a higher voltage per cell, tighter voltage tolerances and the absence of trickle or float charge at full charge" So using the paramaters in the software you would have to set the float to probably .01v difference or something with the same for boost and equalize, just my guess from reading the article: batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries

It has been over 9 months so you may not be interested. I was just at the software download site and noticed they have a new version of the software which includes Li-ion options!

I wish they'd release a new firmware for the BN with better MPPT tracking speed.. grr, I've been waiting and asking for 2 years now. slack arses they are!

In GitHub there is code for running this on linux so you can monitor it from anywhere, if you know what to do. github.com/kasbert/epsolar-tracer
