Fun Fact related to this video: Andrewsarchus used to be connsidered as a important genus of the transition of Whales from Land living to Ocean dwellers. Later on it was now considered to be closer to Hippopotamuses than Whales and this was also a case to another member of its total claude, The Enteledontidaes that were thought to be close to Pigs but was later considered to be closer to Hippopotamus.

I'm from Vashon Island, where orcas are common. I used to call them "whales" until I heard they were actuality "dolphins." Now I'm being told from this video that they're "toothed whales." Arghhhhhhh
@jaylcb4 ай бұрын
"whale" has multiple meanings. It can be used as a synonym of 'cetacean', which would include dolphins and porpoises, in which case there's a distinction between toothed whales and baleen whales. More commonly, it is used to describe the largest members of the group. Although in that case it doesn't hold up taxonomically since sperm whales, which are in the same side of the family tree as dolphins, are grouped together with the baleen whales. Anyway, it's fine to call orcas whales, although they're technically just large macropredatory dolphins.
