One of the best parts of the film was the music. Malick was moving toward his mature operatic style of filmmaking in Days of Heaven. Nestor Almedros as cinematographer was great. Linda Manz narration was an idea that came during the editing phase of production. I always felt that the film was based on the Adam and Eve/Cain and Abel story in the Bible. The Garden of Eden and the beginning of sin. Malick's films always had a dreamy mythic element in them.
