Track By Track: Journey - Escape Vs Frontiers

I love Journey. A lot of great song and a lot of great musicians in that band. I think it’s going to be interesting to see how things turn out with the current lineup.

I haven't listened to Journey that much or for long, only casually for a few years. But these two albums are pretty much the ones I have listened to and I like 'em. 1. SEPARATE WAYS - This got me into them. Possibly the heaviest arena power ballad of all time. Heavy riff, great 80's keys, catchy. Simply an awesome track. 2. STONE IN LOVE - Hard pick, I really like both. But I'm going with the rockier and more upliftning one here. 3. CHAIN REACTION - Kind of the same as the previous one with the exception that I like this song a lot more. 4. KEEP ON RUNNIN' - Not a big fan of either but once again I'm going with the more rocking track. 5. STILL THEY RIDE - Damn, this is a hard one. More or less tied. Picking this for the guitar work. 6. EDGE OF THE BLADE - Absolute love this track. Hard rocking, a grand chorus and with a darkness unlike any of the other Journey songs I've heard. 7. LAY IT DOWN - I really dig both but this one a bit more. 8. BACK TALK - Not huge on any of these. Giving the edge to this for the riffing. 9. MOTHER, FATHER - Great song and way superior to its competitor. 10. RUBICON - Both great songs but once again I'm just more into the rocking stuff.

Both are great albums, Escape is the bigger classic of them though and a bit of a masterpiece. What a year 1981 was overall, to my ears unsurpassed in music.

I like quite a few songs of Journey too but I do get a little sick of Don't stop believin and separate ways among a few other of the radio hits and also it gets annoying when people keep talking about Steve Perry like he's God. Favorite Journey song: After the Fall
