Great video Jaret. I am going to try and do some of those warmups soon. Have you ever done a warm-up part where you are laying on your back, raise your legs up in the air, while keeping your rear flat on the ground, and hold it for about a minute or two, then split the legs apart for about a few seconds, then put them back together, while still in the air, and then repeat that after you bring your legs down, and do that for a few reps?? I did that kind of warm-up when I was in the Navy during boot camp as part of P.T. drills. I can not believe that I remember that to this day, over 17 years ago. 😀

Hey Jaret, i have a BIG question, i am a 60/100m sprinter and my coach always wants me to do a 3 lap run to start the warm up, and i can't protest against it, what's your opinion ? do you think that it can be useful or useless ? thank you.
@JaretCampisi8 жыл бұрын
honestly I used to do a mile warm up before my big races before I even started my warm up I outlined in this video. As a short sprinter I'd say 1 or 2 laps is probably plenty or even just doing this dynamic warm up but it really just depends on you as an individual. I don't think its going to ruin your performance though...I'd say just jog them slowly to make him happy and then do your thing.

I have an important question: I'm trying to get fit (I'm not quite fat, but I'm trying to get my body fit) and I've been trying to run 1 mile all my life but I hate it, it's too boring for me. however, I've always been quite an hyperactive and explosive guy, and I started to practice sprinting as an amateur and I love it... But I'm 29 years old already, and even though I'm not old, I'm not 15 anymore. i was wondering: Can I still practice sprinting and think about reaching an almost "pro" level? I don't want to compete, but I'd like to know if I can get to be a little bit as good as you @Jaret are. greetings from Central America.
@JaretCampisi8 жыл бұрын
Hello from California! I think you should absolutely run and train but I'd shift your focus a bit. It really doesn't matter if you could compete at a pro level or not...I think the most important thing is to get in the best shape you can for YOURSELF and for your own personal health and well being. I would do a combination of weight training and interval workouts on the track combined with a solid diet and do it for fun and to be in great shape. And at your age you still have a solid 10 to 20 years of being in amazing shape as a male so don't ever thing you're too old.

Hey Jaret, great videos. Question: My 12-year old son plays pop warner football (RB/TB) and making the transition from football running to track running is challenging for him, especially sprinting with knees up, parallel to the ground vs his usual quick, choppy steps that he's used to when running the ball. What drills would you suggest to get him into more of a sprinter form when running the ball (i.e., getting his knees up when running and gaining more stride length for break away speed)?
@JaretCampisi8 жыл бұрын
That's a great question. I also played football and ran track in Highschool. Making the transition was actually tough for me at first as well. In football they never really taught us how to run efficiently or with correct form and it is actually different from track and field running form. My advice is have him run for the track team and they should help his running form. I'll also be doing a running form video in the future showing how to run with proper form and drills you can do reinforce the correct form.
