Well you might get the C8 Z06 with the 7 speed manual, that's been in the talks but that won't be for a while. Weird how corvette pulled out of LeMans even though they already built the car a while back for the C8 platform.
@erickirshner28104 жыл бұрын
I bought an automatic C7. If I lived somewhere with wide open roads or a nearby track I could see the benefit of having the manual. I live near Chicago. Lots of traffic and my clutch leg would be very muscular by now. The automatic is faster and gets better gas mileage. Plus it leaves your hands free to change your music or whatever. Kind of wish it had the C8s dual clutch trans but I have to say I'm pretty happy with this 8 speed auto. I don't have the Z06 but even the base has incredible value for the money. The Z06 can still embarrass many exotics costing 4 times it's price.

@SamKGarage2 ай бұрын
@@cozmicsoull Thank you. I would definitely recommend one, so much performance for your dollar. The 2015 C7 Z06/Z07 outpaced a 2017 GT3RS, 2020 Huracan Evo, 2017 Ford GT Hypercar, etc. during C&D testing at Virginia International Raceway. That goes to show it’s a track monster. Basic bolt ons have the car in the mid 6 second range 60-130. The brakes alone cost $15,000 to replace. I would recommend Manual over Automatic, the rev match makes it so easy to drive.
@SamKGarage2 ай бұрын
@@cozmicsoull the automatic uses same transmission from a Tahoe/Silverado, pretty much a slush box when not under WOT. I am going to trade mine for a manual, just waiting for someone to come along who wants an auto with a manual.

GREAT review, and spot on. I even agree with your few gripes, like the sluggish automatic, and the stock seats. That's why I bought the 7-speed TR-6070 manual. The amount I saved with the manual, and the subsequent no gas-guzzler tax almost paid the $3,000 for the competition seats. I am an extremely fit 73 year old mofo, so I'm comfy in them. My C6 Z06 was more of a purist's car, but this thing is amazing. I'll keep this toy until my somewhat younger wife takes away the key fob and forces me to buy an Oldsmobuick. Your videos are the best in this genre. Kudos, man.

@Paul Scarpelli The comp seats are amazing. Luckily I’m still somewhat in shape so they felt great when I sat in them. Wish I could’ve found one with the comp seats but I was buying one off a dealer lot at the time and with the deal I got, I couldn’t be greedy. Thanks for the kind words and comment!
@roccovaselino4 жыл бұрын
To review the advantages of the 7-speed manual over the 8-speed automatic: The Tremec TR-6070 has less parasitic drag, meaning more power at the wheels. The manual was (I think) $1,700 less. The car gets slightly better fuel economy with the manual, and it avoids the A8's gas guzzler tax. The rev-matching feature is "tits on a Ritz." Purists will say they prefer heel-and-toe, but driving this car at 9/10 requires paying close attention, and the rev-matching is a life saver. And while the automatic can be a tick quicker, the car equipped with the M7 is still absolutely terrifying and plenty quick.

Back with a real comment. Once again a great video Dan, very nice touch with the reverse at the end. Yes, there are a lot of full reviews on the C7 on KZbin but none can compare to this. The fact you've owned both a MT and AT for so long make you the most qualified to do a proper review. There is a certain sadness with letting a car go, especially a car you've loved so much. I personally had to let go of my dream car a few weeks back because of the ongoing situation. It wasn't much but it was mine and I had waited so long to buy it. At the end of the day, it's all down to common sense and economics and in times like we are living now, I just consider myself lucky I got to own it for a couple of years. Your story with the C7 is ending but I'm sure another journey will start somewhere in the future. I'm glad you had the car since this is how I discovered your channel and I know you'll do a fine job reviewing and testing other cars.

@Francois Boisvert I saw that you *almost* got that first comment. 😄 I’m glad some people saw the feeling I was going for with the reverse footage. That video felt like yesterday, but was quite a long time ago now. Which car did you end up letting go of? Things are not easy for people now and a lot of folks are asking me what I’m going to pick up next. Frankly, it’s going to have to wait until next year at least to see where things end up. No need to make irrational purchases in this type of situation. Thanks for the kind words as always, Francois.

@@SpeedLabsMotorEnvy I can't believe I didn't get the first comment, I had the phone in my hands when I got the notification and I wrote it within 10 seconds. I demand an international investigation, I think I'm penalized for being Canadian 🤣. In all seriousness though, it was a 2012 Camaro Convertible. I always found it to be the best looking model year for that generation. I made the decision to sell it right at the start of this crisis not knowing what the future held. Kids have become teens and they cost a lot of money 😉. Owning a small business comes with a lot of uncertainties and even though I now realize that the downturn wasn't as bad as I expected for me and I could have kept the car, I wanted to make sure the kids wouldn't be affected and ultimately show them to be financially responsible. I don't regret the decision at all, there will be something else in the future (still a few years away) and it might very well be a C7

Great vid and sad to see the car go. I bought a new 2017 A8 Z06 back in 2017. The 4 cylinder eco mode and sluggish manual shifting is really disappointing. After 2 years, I traded it in for a new 2019 M7 Z06/Z07 and have had no regrets. All my previous sports cars were manual, but with the 2017, I decided to go with the auto for some extra convenience and acceleration. The WoT acceleration was a blast, but everything else about that automatic transmission is a joke. The last year FE Vette with a manual transmission is a special piece of history IMO and I'm thrilled to own one. I look forward to more videos from you in the future!

Great review. I like how you were able to put some of your personal opinions about steering response and suspension tuning aside and not let it affect the scores. Too many reviewers let subjectivity get in the way. Subbed. Also, I just bought a manual C7 Z06 w/Z07. You're right about the older models feeling stiff as hell in track mode. My 2015 feels rock solid. It's worth a bent wheel or two ;) I think my only disagreements are curb appeal (I think this car looks way better than an R8 or an AMG GT), and your comment about the competition seats being rough if you're not in the best shape of your life. I was surprised that someone who tracks as much as you do didn't opt for them. They feel a lot better to me than the base seats for aggressive driving applications. That said, I'm nit-picking. This was such a great video. Well done. And the camera work and lighting is on point!! Impressive
Driving engagement is key , thanks for the transparency, IMO I rather drive a GT4 with less Hp and Torque but feel that satisfaction of driving engagement.

Incredible review!!! Man I was sad to see you let the car go and some how have to sway you back to a new C8! I'm stacking my money for the Zora personally.
