Tracker Mini - New Stereo Samples

We've added stereo samples to the Tracker Mini factory packs.
We've started updating our factory sample packs to Stereo. We've now added stereo versions for the House, Lofi Hip-Hop 1 & 2, and Techno packs, with more to come.
These new stereo samples can be easily found in the 'Sample Packs Stereo' folder on our website. This folder is exclusively for registered Tracker Mini owners and can be accessed in the factory SD card content in the downloads section. I have confidence that the Play is like the Tracker, it will get exponentially better with time. As of now, it has some limitations but it's already a great device, pretty inspiring and incredibly easy to use thanks to it's top grade workflow. When i'm at home, it's pretty much my experimentation/happy accidents lab and it's a joy to use! It's one of those devices that make all or the music making process fun!

​@killzekat I own the play and just got tracker mini. I was intimated with the tracker workflow, but it is almost the same as the play. It's looks different, but it really is the same feeling. But as far as creating music from samples or practically nothing? The mini can do what the play can't.

@@jordanWAH I think there is a confusion... I actually own the Play, the Vanilla Tracker AND the Tracker Mini and we totally agree on the fact that when it comes to grooveboxes, the Tracker(Mini or Vanilla) is way more versatile than the Play...Especially since the Tracker is Polyend's very own vision of a "Daw in a box", so it's purpose is providing the most for musicmaking first, and then create a pleasant workflow. The Play's main purpose is different, almost the contrary of the Tracker and it's name is telling the whole tale: It's all about ease of use and enjoyment via live experimentation. Hence why it's workflow leads to the tactile/musical/experimental part as soon as possible and also why it's less about the amount of tools it has compared to the Tracker.

Polyend Tracker owner here. I love the interface, the screen, but I'm tempted to switch to the other product from USA, won't name it out of respect for you. What I miss? Why not direct from card instead of loading samples, this is very annoying. And it takes sometimes too long to load again the samples I edit. I also had the machine frozen when I changed too much at the same time. This definitely needs to be fixed. Also, I'd love stereo samples, this would add so much to the sound. I definitely won't go to a smaller product from you, I really hope you add to the firmware, I also would probably buy a new version with more horsepower/ram. But I'm happy with my purchase and would do it again.

Thank you. The answer here is pretty simple and straightforward, the biggest limitation for all of these would be the processing power. The Tracker is now basically maxed out. The reason why the Mini has stereo samples and USB audio out per track is that it is based on a chip that's 4x the power of the standard version. As for the freezes - please be sure to update to the latest firmware (which is now 1.7.1).

@@Polyend Hello, I am wondering then (tracker original user here), does playback of stereo samples add to the processing exponentially? If a sample can fit in the loaded memory of the device then wouldn't a stereo sample just make the memory double? I'd rather have the option to load in a stereo or mono sample, or maybe load in a low quality stereo sample at very least. I love the idea of the mini but with no jog wheel or beat pads I feel like the workflow takes too much of a cut for me to consider upgrading.

@@NathanArhur memory and processing the power necessary for playback are 2 different things. playing back a stereo file is basically the same as playing 2 mono files, therefore if the tracker's chip is maxed out at 8 voices of playback you'd get a maximum of 4 stereo voices out of it. so yes, stereo samples take up twice the memory but they also take twice the CPU power to play back. with that in mind, let's hypothetically assume polyend were to add stereo playback to the old tracker. that would mean that as long as you have one or more stereo samples playing you can't use all 8 tracks of the sequencer, as the CPU is maxed out at 8 voices. how would you reflect this in the user interface? is this something you decide on a per song basis? do you have separate stereo and mono tracks? or simply voice stealing? how would you design this in a way that doesn't feel half-baked or confusing to use? it would most likely make for a frustrating user experience and still take lots of development time that would be better spent on fixing bugs, improving existing features and developing new products (such as a tracker+, who knows?)

@@ribon3000 Hmm yes I see your point.. I think for me the perks to assign a stereo channel would outweigh the drawbacks of a slightly more confusing user interface, but I do understand the idea

How many cycles long is a wavetable in Tracker? 64? 128? 256?

Is it compatible with chromebook. I can get the files onto the sd card but they don't appear on the mini tracker.

My thoughts exactly... I work with tech clients but not in tech... I wonder if this can be done via firmware or will the OG tracker enter the Polyend graveyard in a year or so... I sent the mini back after 3 months waiting for it and 3 days owning it... Wasn't for me but the OG tracker is amazing... Just couldn't live without the pads and if portable means it fits in a backpack then I feel the OG is portable enough for me with a battery pack haha...

@@iamYork_ the mini has more powerful cpu tho right? And more more RAM too I think. Most likely there is a Tracker Pro coming in the future in the OG form factor but with more power

@@slakk5093 that's what I was thinking... I like the concept of the mini but felt it wasn't good for my process... I use my Polyend equipment mostly just for personal enjoyment so adding stereo is a nice feature but mono works fine for me... I love my OG tracker and Play but look at them more like fun musical machines in my case and i dont use them in any professional workflows, yet anyway... DAWs all day...

@@slakk5093 the only difference is more sample ram, and a built in mic. The older version is way better as it has better button layouts and the jog wheel, and samples are already stereo. you would have to hard pan the sample hard left, or right, just to make them mono.

Can you post a video showing a song being recorded in a daw like Logic? I have a song I would like each track recorded independently over USB for some final mixing and mastering ❤

It can export multi-track, or just a stereo mixdown itself. You dont need to record it unless you are doing some sort of live performance.
