For a young guy you have taught a dude in his 30's lots with your videos. Did lots of possum traping this winter after watching your videos, now hunting for deer on doc land. Have a merry xmas and enjoy all that venison!

I hunted for many years in NZ with a .243 and the old deer hardly ever went down on the spot when hit by it. They didn't go far though... Since I went to a .308 a lot more dropped on the spot..

Mate that was an excellent no nonsense tracking tutorial, I'm glad you mentioned & showed trailing tracks as well as blood as it's a bit 101 but it doesn't get shown much or at all - OK chur bro

Thanks bro, glad u liked it

Top stuff mate, bloody good idea to show that. I like to use a bit of loo paper to mark my blood trail if I lose it, makes it easier to find your last spot in the bush so you can pick the trail up again.

I like the way you show the things with your camera. Thanks from Germany.

Sometimes if you lose a trail sitting and waiting ten mins allows the blowies time to find small spots of blood you normally would miss and they make quite a bit of noise when you get close and disturb them. Thanx for sharing

Good advice, always track it further than you think you should, they can cover a lot of ground running in the short time it takes them to bleed out.

Thanks for making this vid, I've read a lot of books where they've mentioned tracking but to see it in action was fascinating viewing. Cheers mate. Hope you guys have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Good on you Sha. You've showen us the basic idea of following a blood trail. Have tracked a few wounded deer shot by myself and others. A deer can travel a km in a few minutes. But to track that can take hours and days. Once tracked a deer a mate had shot with his 243 for 4 days an never found him. It helps to be focused, patient and never give up. Again thanks for the share, good work.

Good vid! In fact deers have some odd physiology, that their muscle tissue will cramp up from shock or stress or something and it seals the wounds. I have had 2 occasions that I have shot a deer with .300wby mag at distance under 100m and there has been just a few drops of blood. critter has gone 100m+ or so, and when cleaning the intestents looked like gone in a food processor. I have heard similar stories a few other hunters also.

Choice vid bro. You seem like a pretty down to earth chilled dude, your no nonsense films do the job well. I used to train in either vibrams or just barefoot. Do you swap em out for boots in the winter though, don't think my toes coukd handle the cold!!

Hey bro glad you like the vids. I’m a bit allergic to thick soles these days, so I wear either dive boots in winter in snow, ice etc or thin soles shoes with dive socks.

Hey mate. Nice Video and really good, clear ways to tracking. I could make out the scruff marks as you were pointing them out. What are the tall purple flowers you're walking pass - they're really pretty. Be good if you could show a closer look next time. Know the name of them by any chance?
