I just like how relaxed he is, he didn't have to kill himself chasing time alone

Hocker is a wild card...he beat the Rio champ and he's a smart runner. He'll be great in Paris 2024.

Hi Guys. A couple of points: There is no such thing as the "Professional Realm". There are age groups: eg U16, U18, U20. After that there is Open Grade. College/University's in the USA decided to slot in their NCAA section but the rest of the world ignores it. I have been critical of Hocker in the past BUT... this was an excellent season opener. His whole season will have been mapped out, aiming to peak at times of Championships etc. His training will begin to taper down half way through the season. The race distances he will compete in will all be aimed to get him at peak performance when he needs to be. IF (because I'm not privy to his goals/objectives) his focus is 1500 meters then he will be competing at under/over distance (3000 m, 800m plus odd distances either in training time-trials or arranged races. (600m, 1000m) all aimed to get him to a peak. So, for those who expected him to run PB's in season openers... get real.

This looked like a training practice run. He can go way faster. He’s just on really high mileage and probably his second training run of the day. So going all out would not do any good rn

He trains once a day, and is on a low mileage program. He has surely gone a lot faster in the past, we all know that.
