Quick ? since he could use more launch and his spin was low also, couldn't he have tried a 9.5 or 10* loft head. OR since he still had a slight fade pattern lofted this 9* up and fixed both issues?

Just out of curiosity, did Thomas try the new XC in his current Epic Flash SZ? Reason I ask is I also currently play the BB 6X and have been curious about the how the XC compares with the same head.
@michaelhorner9124 жыл бұрын
Same deal played a 9degree epic flash sub When I got fit this year had to bump up to a 10.5 sub zero maverik to hit the launch angle which looks like why the speed zone out did the mmaverik U needed more launch with the maverik like I did swing speed 112-115.
@wally61934 жыл бұрын
Thomas, I'm curious on your take with the differences between the BB and the XC as far as the much better dispersion with the XC, seems to have tightened it up by a large margin. I haven't seen the EI curves for either shaft but do you think it is because of the stiffer tip section in XC?
@allant.91524 жыл бұрын
I've had a Rogue SZ in the bag a couple of seasons but have gone to the Mizuno ST200G, the Rogue is longer but I'm prone to the low spinning left shot. Put a Speeder TR in the Mizuno and it keeps the spin around the 2000rpm, grouping is far more consistent than the Rogue and worth giving up 3-4 yards for, for me anyway...

I know you have your reasons but I'm surprised the SIM wasn't in the test. The last time I saw you hit it you reached a ball speed over 170. Having said that the Speedzone looks like a great driver for you with that XC shaft.
@2ndswing4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Yes the SIM is HOT up there with the highest ball speeds. I have had a hard time with disepersion so far with the SIM. I need to hit fairways. No doubt it goes very far!

Highest ball speed shown - we didn’t see whole data set - was with Mavrik SZ. Should have gone with weight in the back to increase spin and carry. This test just feels incomplete.
@2ndswing4 жыл бұрын
Just to clarify because in reading some of the comments there seems to be some confusion - Thomas has been testing these four drivers, as well as several other drivers, for the last 8-10 weeks, both for videos that we do on this channel and on his own in preparation for the schedule of professional events he'll play this year. He picked these four drivers configured the way they were as his top contenders for going into the bag in 2020 based on all of that previous testing. So any drivers that are missing from this video or different weight configurations of these four drivers had all been tested at some point - they just didn't make the cut for what Thomas was looking for and seeing in the numbers. So to your point about the test feeling incomplete, hopefully that makes some sense, because what you watched was just the very end of a two-month process. Thanks.

Does he still have it in the bag lol

So when will we know what he decides to go with
@2ndswing4 жыл бұрын
He's going with the Cobra and Tour AD XC 6x. As he said, he might experiment with the hosel settings but he's going to start his 2020 season with that driver in the bag. We'll do a follow-up video once we get into the golf season with an update on how that driver's working for him and what if any changes he's made in terms of the shaft or the settings. Thanks.

@@2ndswing what a choice you made there Thomas 👍 i gamed the cobra f9 last year and didn't see me changing it ever but when the speedzone came out it changed my mind. Let me say the f9 and sz are within 3/4 yards of each other but the sz looks so much better and i have mine in matt white. I've gained more accuracy with the sz and it's a monster paired with the atoms blue 6 shaft

Strange to talk about NOT carrying it far enough and keep testing low spin with low flight settings ... why not change the club head setup to higher flight and maybe tee it up a bit ... everything u do here is to keep it as low as possible ... yet start the video of wanting to carry it further!!! ... strange stuff....
@anderswallerman54684 жыл бұрын
I don't get this at all.. Wish to get more carry, more Spin.. But All but Cobra is Low Spin, forward CG? Ego in the way??
@2ndswing4 жыл бұрын
More carry and spin for a player of Thomas' caliber isn't the same as more carry and spin for an average golfer. Thomas won something like 10 Minnesota PGA Section events in 2019, he finished tied for 15th at the national PGA Assistant's Championship in December, and he advanced to U.S. Open sectional qualifying, where he was four shots out of a playoff to get to Pebble Beach. He rarely ever misses the center of the face and doesn't need forgiveness, so he's always going to benefit in terms of faster ball speeds from a forward CG. Thanks for checking out the video.
@anderswallerman54684 жыл бұрын
2nd Swing Golf I'm not questioning him as a golfer. But i would bet 50cent that the law of physics apply to him aswell. Increased spinloft due to Cobra most of the times plays higher lofted then stated is why his more consistent in regards to spin (and carry). Could be interested to see him try the back cg alternatives🤘. And to be frank, from what i've seen.. his miss is going both ways..

SIM is up there with the fastest ball speeds of all drivers but so far part of my testing over the past two months it has been the hardest club for me to hit straight. No doubt it has incredible speed but I need more fairways.
@RA-bw2wp4 жыл бұрын
How about finding an average golfer a driver. This information is only good for people who swing over 100mph, not for 90% of the real golfers. Speak to the masses not the top 5%.
@RA-bw2wp4 жыл бұрын
Of course it matters. I hit the ball on center plenty. I am a 14 handicap. Was a scratch golfer until my 7th knee surgery. So I still have the same game with less swing speed. You don’t have to swing fast to hit the center. I played with a gentleman yesterday who was 78 years old. He hit the center straight down the middle almost always. He used senior flex and swing slow and smooth. Your point is uneducated!
@RA-bw2wp4 жыл бұрын
I Army - you have no clue what your talking about. Read your original post and my reply. Also fitting makes a huge difference. The right shaft, with the right torque, kick point, and tip will give any golfer an advantage or a wrong shaft. Let it go - your not able to handle such a conversation.
