Traction Engine Doctor (1960)

Rilla Mill on Bodmin Moor, Cornwall.
M/S of Mrs Dyke coming out of her house carrying a basket and climbing on the back of her husband's traction engine to go shopping; the huge steam powered machine chugs slowly down the hill; lettering on the side says 'The Foden Showman's Engine, Built 1910'.
Commentator tells us that working on the engine is Mr Dyke's hobby. Various shots of the engine driving slowly along as Mr and Mrs Dyke turn the wheels to control it. M/S of two small girls sitting by the roadside with their dog and watching it go by. Shots of the couple steering from inside the engine cab; Mr Dyke pulls the whistle.
They arrive at the village shop, P J Sampson Stores, and Mrs Dyke climbs down and runs into the store. Mr Dyke also climbs down and walks round to put a block under the huge rear wheel and checks the tyre; he is wearing dirty white overalls and smokes a pipe.
Mrs Dyke comes out of the shop with a full shopping basket and climbs into the engine cab; C/U of two teenage girls looking on and chatting. The engine moves off again; C/U of a man watching by the roadside. C/U of the tractor's hose pipe being put into a stream to fill up; M/S of the tractor taking on the water.
Commentator says the engine's tanks "hold 240 gallons, and she does 12 to the mile, so if it catches on those petrol stations had better watch out!" M/S of a petrol station owner standing by a petrol pump and scratching his head, looking rather disgruntled.

Wilesco makes small-scale ones, which actually run. They are about $350-400 (USD) brand new, so a bit pricey but cheap compared to a full-scale one, lol

See the price of petrol in 1960, at the end of the video: 4 and 8 pence-ha'penny! [For the young, that means 23 and a third New Pence [present-day pennies]] - for a gallon. That's very slightly over 5p per litre. And we grumbled about how dear it was!
