Oh Ross, seeing your videos usually bring back memories for me! Buddy is s slacker today, letting the cows through the gate! When I was a kid, and farmers helped e/o out harvesting, we helped a neighbor pick corn. He didn't own the farm, and it didn't have much for cribs, so he always built temporary picket cribs in his driveway. But he had a dog that would sit all day long, and keep the cows in the pasture so the gate could be left open to drive through with loads. Then at the end of the day, he would just point at the cows, and the dog would go get them for the evening milking! Maybe if you leave that battery door open a little, it wouldn't be such a cozy place to your little mouse and he would move on? We had a JD MT my grandpa bought new. Mom raked a lot of the hay with it, and after she broke off a couple of gate post with the axle, they got cut off with a torch! I'd like to find that tractor again, and it won't be hard to know it with the chopped off axles! Keep the videos coming Ross!

May I suggest a Greg Judy bale unloader to spread the hay around, and distribute the excess organic matter.

Another adventure with Buddy the Dog, I see Ross has now has a hard surface driveway without the expense of concrete or asphalt

Ross, I kind of thought maybe Buddy the dog moved the shovels in the middle of the drive 😂🤣😂 and I'm not a big fan of the snow in the cold myself for Iowa. Thanks Michael

I'd bet you're pretty glad to get that fuel shut off on there. I haven't had too much problems with the cows getting into the hay storage area when the gate is opened, but my youngest son helps me or I help him to put them back if that happens. Good to see the hydraulic valves you rebuilt are staying dry so far. Another enjoyable video, thanks Ross, I hope you day goes well!

On an IH 656 I took that solenoid off and put in a regular load needle. That tractor doesn't get run very hard, so he just shuts off the gas when it's parked.

That John Deere 2020 looks like a little sweet heart it really looks like it gives you everything that it has. So what you do to make it "more better" does look like a labor of love.

Buddy The Dog was not on the job today, that’s like a Senator who wants to fire all the cattle guards on the roads.

Ross, you need chains on one of those loader tractors. They are a pain to put on but make a world of difference in frozen ground.

Neighbor has a 2020 that quit. Took that solonoid apart and used some thin wire to tie that needle open. Been running ever since. I would buy a new Zenith carb before spending that much for a solonoid. If you have an engine that diesels, there is too much carbon on the valves and in the combustion chambers. Get the engine hot, take the air intake hose off the carb, run it at high rpm and spray water from a spray bottle into the carb. That steam will help break up that carbon. The carbon stays hot enough to cause ignition after you shut the engine off causing the dieseling. I didn’t believe this either until I tried it. It works. May have to do it a couple times if it’s real bad. Engines that just putt around and don’t get used very hard to get up to temperature are more prone to bad carbon build up.

My goodness that’s a lot of money!! And I get it that you want to fix it correctly but $700 seems way too much for that. Darn sure starts easy in this chilly Willy weather.

Just wondering if have a 1959 oliver 550 and the three point is constantly raising and lowering about an inch, weither there's weight or non. Is there a valve to check by the pump? Hydraulics are full. Any hell would be appreciated.
@burrridgefarms11 сағат бұрын
Ross may know better, but that hunting of the 3pt hitch usually has something to do with the adjustment on the draft control.
@MOliver-hm3rd10 сағат бұрын
Thank will check into that more on adjustment

Ross would not say anything about so many farmers of that period of time, who would not buy diesel tractor, or buying under size tractor because of such a big change in farming. old ways are truely hard to change, older farmers were well set in not borrowing big money, or stepping out with farming more land.

What is Winter? Some think it is beautiful but then there are the ones that have to get out and work in it. Cows? Animals that have brains that are attracted by crazy things. Burn a little pile of brush and they will all be standing around watching it. If they could strike matches they would be called Pryomaniacs. Oh well, they are just a challenge that keeps your mind busy and your vocabulary to the point you could be a sailor.

$700 😢😢😢 Geeeeze... Thats like the price of a whole other tractor. I retaught myself to shut the tractor off in gear and use the clutch to avoid a much cheaper anti desiel solenoid. But I'm cheap .😂
